A friend at work who knows of my camera obsession just gave me three folders from his late father's collection. A really old Kodak, a Balda Reflex and the one that really interests me, a Monte-Carlo.

This French made folder is in almost perfect condition, missing only the button on top that moves the shutter linkage. I was able to shoot a roll by tripping the linkage at the front of the camera.

It has a DeMaria-LaPierre 110 f 4.5 Anastigmatic Manar lens.

I can find almost nothing about this camera on the web, except for a picture taken with one at
http://www.bubu.jp/manar110.image/5.htm

I just ran a roll through it. It takes 120 film, but it is in the 6/9 format with 8 shots per roll.

Anyone know anything about this camera? Nothing on EBay.

See attached photo.

Hi, I'm Sylvain Halgand. It's my first post here. My english is very bad. Please ask me if a message is not comprehensive.

About the "Monte-Carlo" :
In the page http://www.collection-appareils.com/demaria/html/monte_carlo.php from my website, the picture is exactly the same as jon_flanders 's one, but I didn't list it ( a mistake). I think this one is the most common of the Monte-Carlo.

Sylvain, hello, how nice to see you here!
(Sylvain's site is one of my very favourites, and the one I consult first upon encountering an unfamiliar camera: what a collection he has!)
(And., too, Sylvain, I'm still plodding through the translations I offered to contribute. I'll send off the first ten soon..)

Hi Sylvain, you are not alone, I fight every day with this f*** language (I mean foreign) and I still survive!

Hey, I was very excited to come into possession of a good French camera. We don't see many of them in the States.
Plus it is 6/9 which I will be happy to have in medium format.

Bienvenue, Photographes Français!

I hope Google translated that correctly!!!!!

Bonjour à tous,

( ;-) pstevenin, peut-être que j'écris à deux pas de là où tu es)
May be, I'm writing in the block of pstevenin.

French camera ? Yes and no. Monte-Carlo is a very specific name for US market. No one was sell on french market. For french market was always "Dehel". So, it's impossible to find a "Monte-Carlo" in France. I bought my several years ago on ebay US.

Do you know if the "import house" of this camera always exist ?

regards

PS : I'm ready to swap US camera against french popular cameras.

Peut-être... Rue du Simplon 75018 PARIS.

By the way, thks to RFF , Allen and I planned to meet together here in Paris next week.

It sound's to be a trade here at RFF to initiate local meeting. We're at least 2 from Paris, from know on.

What's about you?

PS: it seriously off the subject of the initial thread. If you're interested, I may open a brand new franchouillard one!

A little more news about my DelHel Monte-Carlo.

I discovered that the bellows had some light leaks at thecorners. I am trying a repair with Liquid Electrical Tape.

The shutter seems to be firing at one speed only. Or perhaps I can't tell the difference between 1/25 and 1/125.

The first roll had only a couple that came out. Evidently I didn't trip the shutter properly. I need to improvise a shutter button with a small screw.

C'est un travail en marche.

Hi everybody,

Philippe, I'm working at "Porte Maillot".

Jon "Bon courage". I'm living in north of France (150 kilometers from my job), just near "Flandres = flanders" !

Indeed. I passed through Flanders back in 1977 during my European trip. I should visit the land from which my remote ancestors on my father's side came. Supposedly all Flanders living in the US originate with a Stephen Flanders who arrived here in about 1640.
