Good news for camera collectors that own early Red Sun-Leica M8 and M9 camera's. As is well known these camera's although mechanically amongst the best ever built, suffer from the defects of all early electonic imagining devices. The sensors are small and dont have the current sensitivity of up to 128000 ISO, the spectral response is too wide, nor do they reach the 20 Gigapixels we see today. Now it is possible to have them converted to the established biosensor technology of our age, as a firm in Luton has come up with a way of growing the light-converting fungus used onto a medium of non-IR coated glass. This means it is available at a low cost of only 10.000 Euro per camera in Eurobritain and 12 million Dollars US in the rest of the world. Sadly it is not possible to use this technique for IR-treated glass, making all other digital cameras, like the Canon 1DmkXL still unusable.
