frustrated with yahoo, need help with flickr account!

last week i tried to sign in to my flickr account (a paid account) using yahoo...new computer, needed to sign in to most of the sites i visit...yahoo informs me that my account has been deactivated due to non usage (really?)...i created a new account (following their instructions) but the new account was not connected to the old account and i had/have no way to connect with my flickr pics...
emailed yahoo...signed up for more yahoo accounts thinking i was getting a new password for my old account - all very confusing -
long story short, i still don't have access to my flickr account/photos and yahoo has stopped answering my emails!!!

i am so frustrated at their lack of customer service and deactivating my account in the first place...i go to flickr daily...
what to do?

time to go elsewhere i suppose...
 
Cannot help but can commiserate.

I went through a bunch of crap after MS cancelled my 20 year old hotmail account which I used to set up my apple ID, iCloud, etc. My iPad and iPhone still don't communicate perfectly seamlessly like they used to.
 
Right. Went through this once myself. The Flickr account should be intact. In my case, it was the "tag-along" Yahoo email account that was deactivated (which you need -to login to Flickr). I do not remember exactly what I did as it was quite a while ago. After it was fixed, I did prevent it from happening again by logging into the Yahoo email account about once a month -even though I do not use it other than to receive some Flickr management info.

Oops. I should do that too, I suppose, or I will end up like Joe (who has my sincere sympathy for the predicament you are in!)
 
That seems to be a problem too. Not everyone has the exact same thing happen. Some folks claim that they have never had a problem and do not use their email accounts. I do it as a precaution.

And therein, another good reason for Joe's and a lot of other folks' frustrations!

Yep. I have no idea. I do not recall any warnings at all -just *POOF* one day. I think it had something to do with the Yahoo buyout and some accounts falling into a very small crack.

Of course, none of this may be your problem anyway -just what happened to me.

Oh well, I hope it will all work out for you. I think Flickr is slowly starting to come back around with some of the (more) recent changes. I like the new BETA.
 
They're trying to steal your and everyone's pics. Eventually every flickr user will have their account deactivated..and then..
 
Joe, that is strange.

I have to use my yahoo email to login to flickr, so whenever I use flickr, I am "exercising" my yahoo email. Is this not the case with your account?

I would create a new Flickr account, post in the help forums and ask for the mods to reconnect your old flickr account with your new one. Have you tried this?

I have not tried that...i am so fed up with it all that i'm thinking of just going elsewhere...

Creating of new account isn't going to get you to old one, I have tried it before.
I never used Yahoo for anything, just for Flickr. At some point I couldn't get to Flickr by e-mail and password and have to use their stupid Yahoo ID, which seem to be encrypted e-mail with same password.
 
New Years Eve and New Years Day are likely not the very best times to look for service and support.

Yahoo pisses me off regularly with stupid stuff, but continues to work okay. I've had two accounts permanently deactivated since I didn't log into them for ages, but not my main account which I do log into every so often. It's been the same account for 13-14 years. Flickr also continues to work without problems, not that I think it's perfect either.

If you want to get away from the whole Yahoo mess, go to Hover.com, lease a domain name and open an email account. Then go to SquareSpace.com and create a website to host your photos on your own domain, etc. Or any one of a dozen other network service providers.

Regards your current problem, wait until Friday and then get in touch with support.

this was last week...

i have an image blog that works ok for me too...i don't need a website...i don't normally sell prints or market myself much...i use the flickr to host all my pics, even the bad ones...

So, the images at paid account are still visible? It means account is active (you are paying for it) and for some reason you can't access to alive, paid account.
I would wait until Jan 5th at least, for back to normal support people to come back.

Now if only I could help myself. I have an "Origin" account for a game I sometimes play. After changing computers and installing the game on my new box, it tells me I must activate the game. When I then try to activate the game (this is an online process as with most games these days), Origin responds by telling me that the game is already linked to an account. As I only have one email address and that email address is my Origin identifier and it has only one password I am at a loss to know whats happening. Possibly I did set up a different account with the same email identifier (I cannot recall) but if so Origin is too dumb to identify that for me when I type my email address in. I tried using Origin help pages and "contact me" page but its as useful as the proverbial "thingummies on a bull". I am sure you can work out what thingummies are.
