Okay, since we're still brainstorming here - some like themes, others, no - how 'bout if we set three themes, say:
These three suggestions for themes are particularly well spoken IMHO, because they allow for not only people and activities, but also the "where" could embrace landscapes/cityscapes or even some still lifes, etc. as well; pretty wide open themes.
Just more rubbish for thought.
and allow participants to submit one shot per theme, i.e. BillyBob could enter one shot in his favorite theme or one in each theme. Winners could be voted on in each theme - three winners.…shots showing "where/how we live", "where/how we work" and "where/how we enjoy our free time"…

Hold still, you're moving
If we had multiple categories, then we could have multiple prizes, one for each category. A little something for a number of people. It might be a little touchy if someone won more than one category. But that would be up to the judges. I like the idea of categories. It gives an outside chance for numbers of people to participate and perhaps pull off a win. Good idea.CVBLZ4 said:Okay, since we're still brainstorming here - some like themes, others, no - how 'bout if we set three themes, say:and allow participants to submit one shot per theme, i.e. BillyBob could enter one shot in his favorite theme or one in each theme. I think I've said it before, but I'm game no matter how it is organised exactly. I'd prefer a theme, but I'll play at any rate!

What's going on? Where are contest rools, themes? Nzeeman started this thread. He can tell us what theme and rules were in his thoughts, when he started this interesanting article.

Back to basics...
Yeah, I'm with Jonas... I'm in at any rate! Looking forward to getting it all sorted out, and playing! Did we ever get the green light from Jorge?

Just confirming, definitely still in.
I like the idea of multiple themes (which still adhere to the nature of our old, Red friends) with one submission to each theme, with winners voted on by everybody.
Just my thoughts, though.

Ditto, I'm in no matter what. As far as I know we're still knocking around ideas and waiting for an okay from Jorge. I voted for prizes, but despite gracious offers of donated prizes it looks like a very large majority prefer to do it for fun . Majority rules and I'm fine with that too. Absolutely no prob. We can encourage Eternal Monotonous Bragging Rights and Horrendous High-speed Nose-rubbing as a lure. Should be a real kick.
Start putting the magic rub on your FSU-RFs and keep an eye out for possible "champeen" shots ~ it'll happen soon enough.

What happened to your T Peter ¿?
FSU bodies ? Several. FSU lenses ? How couldn't I ?
I say yes, these little wonders are able to give top results and even more fun.

only rule that i had in mind was FSU gear and nothing else.
also i dont want to play boss in this contest because im not the boss type of guy.im too introvert for that so i want all of contenders to be organizers at the same time.
also still no green light from jorge i think he have too much job with servers and still with unfinished HCB. when that gallery get up again and HCB finishes we will ask jorge to make another gallery for FSU contest. i hope he will do that.
thats all for now.
bye bye

Sorry but I don't think that's in good taste.
Yes, it's a while ago, and there probably aren't too many Tsjernobyl witnesses who would know about this contest but still... As an American, imagine a "9/11" or "space shuttle Columbia"-themed contest. A lot of people died at Tsjernobil. Until today there are kids that are born handicapped because of what happened there.
Not exactly good taste to have a contest with the Tsjernobil nuclear disaster as theme.

and the fabulous prize should be a pristine new in the box(as to 1951) zorki or something.

For a Zorki 1 (LNIB, FSU-style) I would personally see to it that every other competitor met an unfortunate demise...

@ JVX , I think the idea that CVBLZ4 chose a poor way to get the idea across. What is currently called "urban archeology" basically defunct, closed buildings destined to be torn down. It is a legitimate concept.
What I think would be interesting would be to have one of the "FSU" members be judges? We have at least one and I think perhaps three. Could be fun.

Perhaps if we get the ok, we should have another poll to decide the theme? I personally like the theme of no theme, or maybe even anything but street photography? Judged by poll.
Long live the peoples contest!

Reagan and Jan, I actually think it's a nice theme and I'd be up for it, just keep the Tsjernobil-reference out of it and it's all fine. Urban archeology is good for me!
