Well, after only little more than a week after buying my first 3 FSU's I'm now looking for a good J8 and J12. My first purchase was a Fed 2 off ebay from a local seller here in Israel, but that one turned out to have some problems (which started with the 2nd curtain curtain not closing after firing, and quickly progressed to the curtain becoming detached completely). Fortunately, the seller agreed to a refund, and didn't even want the camera returned. The 2nd FSU I purchased last week was from a local RFF member here in Jerusalem, a Zorki 4 with an Industar 26. This camera works great, and I've already run a few rolls through (thanks Mike!). I'll try and post some photos over the weekend.

The 3rd FSU I purchased last week is another Fed 2 from a Ukraine ebay seller (afterall, I had to replace the 1st non-working Fed 2, right?), and should be here in a week or so...

So now I've accumulated 4 Industar 26's in less than 10 days, but would really like to get hold of a good J8 & J12? Anyone have one to offer?

There are a couple of Zorki 4's on ebay now with a J8, but I don't really need the extra body (but of course the logic goes, at these prices the body's basically free, or vice-a-versa).

I think the FSU Fever has really set in, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

MIchael,
Couple of thoughts about this for you:
Since you now have a free but nonworking FED2, it might be worth sending to get serviced--the cost of that will be pretty low and then you'll have a really good camera. I have had this kind of work done by Oleg Khalyavin and can recommend him highly. His web site:

I don't have a J-8 or 12 to offer(currently don't have a J-12 and the J-8 I have is staying with me.) but they are lenses I like quite a bit. It may be a good choice to find a Zorki 4 with a lens; you then would have the J-8 that you want and a "back up " body. And you could ask Oleg about the lenses you want.
Another choice for lenses is FEDKA. He is here in the US and is also a very good seller. Prices are a bit more than ebay but you can trust his descriptions and won't have to worry about "ebay roulette".
His page:http://www.fedka.com/catalog/

One last thing; I love these FSU cameras/lenses/stuff and one at a time they are fairly inexpensive. BUT don't blame us when you suddenly realize you have 37 FED 2s and need more shelf space!😀

I can vouch for Rob's comments about Yuri's (Fedka.com) service. I placed an order with him by e-mail and received the lens less than a week later. Of course, he and I are both on the same side of the same country with no ocean between us. The lens arrived in perfect condition (an Industar 61-L) and appeared to be new. Yuri is VERY communicative and sets an excellent example which other FSU vendors could well emulate!

And no, there's a not a drop of Slavic blood in my veins and I have no relationship with him, or his company, except as a satisfied customer.

Accept the inevitable and get a Zorki 4 with the J-8. You'll pay little, if anything, more for a body and lens than a lens alone. It'll be one towards the collection that most people seem to accumulate!

As for the J-12, I bought one a while back and was very surprised how good it is. Unlikely you'd be disappointed by it...

Hi Michael,

as for Jupiter-12 I purchased one from this Greek guy http://cgi.ebay.com/JUPITER-12-2-8-...ryZ30063QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. It wasn't the cheapest, but it was brand new in the palstic container wrapped in a brown greasy paper with the passport and little booklet in Russian. It looks like he has a surplus of them, because he has them on the list on eBay all the time (as well as Caucasian kindjals ;-). Of course, I have no relation to this seller.

As for Jupiter-8, it is quite common lens so I would take the risk and just buy it fron anyone on eBay with reasonably positive feedback. It should be Ok. A decent one can be bought for some USD 25, which is quite nice price for how good this lens is.

Hope it helps

That's actually not a bad price considering the lens is brand new. I've seen second-hand ones go for similar prices.
