FSU universal turret finder

As some of you may already know the FSU universal turret finder's parallax correction is slightly more accurate on the metered Kiev than the un metered ones.

I'm wondering if anybody has tried making adjustments with the shims under the accy mount to improve accuracy with the un metered Kiev's by either moving the shims or adding more under the rear attachment screws.

Any experience doing this??

I feel that with R/F cameras you should allow a little space for cropping anyway. If you want critical framing accuracy an SLR with 100% v/f is a better bet.

With the 35 and 50mm lens parallax accuracy is fine but with the 85 and 135mm lens it tends to be a bit off..

I much prefer the RF over the SLR for a number of reasons and only use the SLR with lens of 200mm+ focal length.

Too bad CV doesn't make their 15, 21, and 25mm lens in Contax/Kiev mount.. I have to use my Leicas for these lens..

Yesterday I took pictures with my metered Kiev 4, and the universal turret finder for the jupiter 12. My first goal was to compare the prewar Zeiss Sonnar of my fathers contax with the Jupiter 8m at a short range.

Haven't checked the parralax correction for both the models unfortunately. Contax developed the universal finder, and they should have known that the height of the accesory shoe was different, resulting in a slight parralax difference when using a external finder. Especially when u use a 85 or 130mm lens.

The Universal finder from KMZ was sold i to be used with the Fed 4 and Zorki 4 as well. The accesory shoe of the Z4 is centered with the lens, on the Kiev and the Contax they are slightly to the left.
