Could any of you, helpful people, suggest which FSU has 1:1 viewfinder, capturing the whole 100% of the frame with 50mm.(no more, no less)

There are lots of controversial specs splintered all over the web, and i have no option to try every of them in hand.

I got Zorki 6, never used, in perfect condition, even box and manual were supplied. But it turned out to have less magnification, although web-pages claimed the other.

Thanks in advance, further thanks will be provided by the way:p

Yes, I bet you read that mis-information on Cameraquest... It's been talked in the forum many times, that Z-5 and 6 have about the same magnification as FEDs 2-5.

AFAIK only the mentioned Z-3 to 4k have 1:1 finder. But it's difficult to use, because you can't see the edges of the view. IMHO Z-6 viewfinder is the best of the Zorki series - bright, contrasty (more contrast of RF patch than Z-4) and you can see the edges.

I'm not sure, but I think also Drug had 1:1 finder.

Why is it so important to you that the finder is 1:1 ?

thanks for replies.. and your warm welcome.. i've been watching this great forum for a long time. it's so informative, i had no intention for posting myself, until now..

well, i'm just looking for more involving framing, thinking that shooting with both eyes open will definitely be something exciting. maybe i'm wrong, but i could end up with another camera at least :p

:p

Still, lever is a good thing to see while shooting:rolleyes:

Okay. Now i got a little confused as usual. So zorkis 3s and 4s have 1:1 viewfinder. i really like the look of zorki 3m.

no fed has got 1:1.

I think i'd like 1:1, except for the difficult framing issue mentioned.

So any of you, taking into account my collection starter Zorki 6, could suggest another FSU?

I'd still like the 1:1 thing, but even if it's not..

I wonder if any RF camera has yet been made which is accurate for both parallax and field of view at different distances.

Try the Sokol : Parallax correction for distance, very bright viewfinder showing more than 100% of the frame - and it beats any other FSU RF in size! But it is a fixed lens RF...

Which camera is Drug? This term is new to me.

Hi Raid,

At the time, and not beyond a year from now, our friend Phillip (rxmd) wrote an extensive review of this camera, putting it as one of the best ever done at the FSU.

rxmd review really deserves a search, either through the different variations of the camera name (droug, droog, etc) or by rxmd started threads at his profile.

Good Luck,
Ruben

My Zorki 4 and Zorki 4k have finders that I would say are near to 1:1 but not quite 1:1. They appear to me to magnify the scene a little. Objects are seen through the vf are a little bigger than lifesize. I also find it uncomfortable to try to view through the VF with my other eye open on the scene.
It may be that these just do not suit my eye(?) but, for example, my Voigtlander CLS has a lovely clear VF which I would say is really 1:1, which I can use to view with two eyes comfortably.

The VF of the Z4 is closer to 40mm than 50, it's bright but the yellow patch somehow lacks contrasts, and you must be careful when framing. It's good for glass wearers because you can see a 50mm frame.

Thanks for the kind words. :) The review is here: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=557240

The Drug has an 1:1 viewfinder with reasonably accurate framelines for 50mm and 85mm. The viewfinder is in the middle of the camera, but I can use it with both eyes open. It's the best FSU viewfinder I know, maybe on par with the Iskra medium format camera (which was made by the same company at the same period, so no coincidence here).

The finder in the Zorki-3/3M (which is very similar construction-wise to that in the Zorki-4/4K) is more or less 1:1. Its magnification varies somewhat with the amount of diopter correction. I have been trying to use it with both eyes open for a week now, and I find it rather difficult because it has no framelines, because the rangefinder patch is not contrasty enough on my Zorki-3M, and because with my eyes the magnification is slightly smaller than 1:1.

The Kiev-5 is a difficult beast, some had an 1:1 viewfinder like the Drug's, some had a viewfinder with 0.7x magnification apparently. The only one I've ever seen had a 0.7x viewfinder. The camera is also quite big and heavy.

Just buy a SBOOI and whatever camera you want... :)
Rob.

Isn't a SBOOI the one with the diminishing view at longer focal lengths? Does it not also cost more than a FSU camera? The russian turret-finder is far cheaper and (from what I read) better.
