I thought I better show something that was made with a Leica since the last month has seen mostly medium format work from my trip out west. This was made in my hometown, Fort Wayne, just a few days after I got home from my trip to Santa Fe. It says a lot about conditions here.
I had never paid much attention to this used car lot on Clinton Street in Fort Wayne, though it is unusual in that they only sell white vans. One day, I was driving south on Clinton, when I spotted the sign on M&W Motors: "Unmployment Isn't Working."
Are they simply stating the obvious; If you're unemployed, you are not working, or are they commenting on our country's economic downfall? Large scale unemployment, which has been extreme in industrial cities like Fort Wayne, seems to be the permanent condition, but it is certainly not 'working'.
See more of my photographs of Fort Wayne.

Unemployment as a widespread condition certainly does not "work" in industries who depend on customers.

I've never been able to find a decent job, so for me too. I now make more money self-employed than most here earn with 'real jobs' since those all pay $7-$8 an hour, and I am not well off at all, barely making it, so that tells you how it is for most of us in the 99%
