Have not seen many comments about the 55-200, perhaps because it is just getting out but thought I would give you my thoughts as I picked mine up on Saturday.

1. The lens is a good build. Depending on what you think of weight can be positive or negative but the solid build adds to the weight and therefore you can definitely tell you are holding something. This in size and weight Nikon 70-300VR size i think.

2. Images are nice from the little I have used the lens so far. Bokeh appears nice to me as well.

3. Focus can hunt a bit and run the full course as there is no limiter. I tried to focus on some very small flower types at pretty much close focus distant, about 4 ft. You need to make sure the focus point/square is adjusted to the right size or it can miss a small object. Focus speed to me was like x pro when it first came out. I did latest firmware update as well for the lens.

4. Manual focus binding and smoothness is nice on both the focus rings and distance rings. The aperture ring to me feels good as well. More on the lines of the 35 1.4 rather than say the 14, which is very loose and can be knocked easily.

5. To me, definitely feels like you are getting back to the DSLR size with it on the camera, though understand the restrictions Fuji was working within. Some people will not like it for that reason. I will have limited uses with it but believe I will be keeping it.

6. Price is right, $700....I use to spend a lot more on my Nikon glass.

7. A removable Tripod mount is something that maybe should have been considered as well.

Anyway, just thought I would update everyone.

Really...
A new lens out almost 100 views and no thoughts from anyone? Anyone thinking of picks tis up or was I just me?

Mine is enroute according to Adorama. Looking forward to it since EVERY lens they have come out with has been, well, spectacular is a word for it. They've really got it down, the matching of their lenses to their sensor and it shows in the results. I can appreciate your concern about the size, wish it was smaller, but considering it is a 300mm (in 35 terms) lens, I'll learn to live with it. The price is right too, IMO. How 'bout posting a few shots, especially B&W (my favorite) to show the qualities? Thanks, Bob Nancarrow.

Mine is on the way too. Waiting for my x-e1 too (amazon shipped me a used one... so returning it for a new one, sigh).

Any sample photos to share?

I have tried one at the store last week.

It felt very well constructed, although I did not like the rubber focus ring.

I'm sure it is a great lens, but it is very big. There is no way I'm going to buy it for this reason. I have left my Canon system and my "L" glass to have something smaller. I'd rather buy a used 5D II and get my 135mm back...

Maybe that's why people do not talk that much about this lens. Also, people, at least here, seem to prefer primes.

I'm just waiting for a small fixed prime telephoto from Fuji. I think if they made a 85mm and a 200mm, I would get both :)

In the meantime, I use a Canon FL lens with an adapter...

I'm with everybody on the concern of size though i understand the restrictions. I am debating whether I want to deal with it though it would have limited use for me and may need it at times. Work has kept me to busy to post any photos yet....sorry. I use the 35 and 18-55. Got rid of the 60 waiting on the 56, and really want to add the 14.
