Fuji film bar-code and 645ZI

Not sure I should post this here, so Mods, send it to wherever it should go, if not.

I just got my 645 Zi which, with the appropriately bar-coded Fuji film allows autoloading by hooking a tab onto the take up roll. I got couple of boxes of 400H Pro and no such bar-code. Indeed, loading the leader into the slot of the take-up real was a pain in the arse, no hook on the take-up reel, and no hole in the leader tab. 😀

Q: which Fujifilm has the auto-load feature? TIA, folks

It's a matter of the Fuji spool, so I always make sure to use a Fuji takeup spool when loading fresh Fuji film. I believe all Fuji 120/220 use the same spool, though I have personal experience only with the 160S, 400H, and 800Z Pro films, mostly 220.

The auto-ISO setting barcode is a nice Fuji feature on the paper leader... if you want to use the film at the official speed rating with a GA-series camera. Which I never wanted; I prefer to rate these color neg films 2/3 stop slower than marked. So when loading film I always had to use the manual ISO setting method.

thanks kindly for your response. Very likely I got a take-up spool that is non-Fuji, so no hook on which to attach film leader. However, I'm a bit confused about where on the film I should see the bar-code. I've got 400HPro and there is no bar-code on it that I can see. Perhaps the code is restricted only to certain of the Fuji Film offerings. Not really a big deal, I reckon, since I can manually set the ISO so easily, and indeed when I closed the back door, the film automatically wound to the first frame.

I'm amazed. doggone rig is lighter than my G2 with 90mm on it. 😀

Hi - open the back of your (empty!) camera and look at the left side of the film gate. I think that little square with the slit in it is the barcode reader. It would read a barcode on the back of the paper leader. Ask your processing lab to return the paper backing to you next time, then you'll have a sample to examine in good light. I should have a few around here somewhere, but we moved and I can't find stuff now...

I have GA645i, which should be similar. I don't think you need Fuji spool on the take-up side, since I use a mixture of Kodak and Fuji film. Insert film leader and use the up/down dial to get the film wound on the take-up spool, quite simple.

All my NPZ800 from 2006 has the EL bar code, and it is labeled as such on packaging.

thanks again, guys. got it loaded, apparently with no slop in the roll. 🙂 Heading out shortly so I can grab some pics to get developed on Monday to see how this setup works.
