Fuji G690BL Eyecup?

Hello fellow Fuji owners. As an eyeglasses wearer, I am curious to know if anyone has made any adaptations or improvised eyecups for their G690? It's the model with the rectangular eyepiece on the back and it seems as though shooting would be more pleasant with a bit of rubber between my glasses and the camera. Love the camera and the viewfinder in particular. Thanks!

Hi Andy,

Fuji makes a rectangular plastic piece that goes in the rectangular opening in the body metal around the eyepiece. Mine was missing. Fuji supplied one for free, but that was several years ago. Is your missing, or do you feel that is too hard and want something more?

I believe mine does have the plastic rectangle adapter, but was hoping for something with rubber so as to not scratch the lenses on my glasses. I just tried fitting the eyepiece from my Canon EOS 3 over the Fuji eyepiece and it does slide on, but looks rather hilarious because of the buik of it. I may try ordering an aftermarket eyecup made for the EOS 3 and see how that works.

Later Fujis- GW690 for certain- take Nikon eyepeices. For the FM cameras, and others but I don't remember the full series of cameras. I do not know if the stock eyepeice on the GW690 is 'active' or simply a cover piece- I now have a Nikon -1 diopter in mine to correct it. Well, just thought I'd mention this in case there is a Nikon setup that will work.

Thanks Dan. I have the older Fuji with the rectangular eye piece, which prevents me from using most round Nikon eyepieces. It's a shame. I'll keep looking and post here once I find a solution.

Yes Andy, please do post anything you come up with. I'm in the same situation and wonder whether I should just give in and buy a body that takes the Nikon eyepieces, but would rather not.

Have you thought about modifying a Nikon DK-22? I believe it has the 19mm Nikon eyepiece thread, and it's plastic. This is the adapter that slips onto a rectangular Nikon eyepiece.

I'm checking into that now. I'll order one up from B&H and test it out, along with a nice Nikon eyecup. Thanks.
