Here we go.

There is a 110mm f2 lens in the works and a 63mm f2.8 standard lens.
This camera could be the standard for Portrait and Wedding pros.

FUJIFILM GFX 50S which features the FUJIFILM G Format 43.8 × 32.9mm sensor with 51.4 megapixels and six lenses that will be introduced under the new FUJINON GF Lens series of interchangeable lenses after early 2017 sequentially for professional photographers and photo enthusiasts. The new series deliver the highest image quality Fujifilm offers as well as outstanding expandability and functionality as a camera system.

I like the modular design, clearly aiming serious photographers/professionals but still keeping the system really compact for the format. I might break down when it comes out next year...

What constitutes medium format these days? The sensor doens't even come close to 6x4.5. I whipped up this little diagram to illustrate.

edit: forgot about 127. Looking at the specs it looks very close to 127 with its 4x3 frame.

Resolution wise it looks good to me. I understand that the 51MP and 14EV dynamic range it would be equivalent to having a 6x4.5 film perfectly scanned at 3.500 dpi with a good Dmax 4.2 rated scanner.

With regards to optics, with its normal lens at f/2.8, it would be not that great, like using f/4 lens on a 6x4.5 film body.

Behold the glory of 6*9 film cameras! Available now in the $400 range.

Or wait for this dead end tech to come out, for thousands and thousands of $$

😀

Thanks for the diagram that is a nice visual aid.

For digital, It Seems like 35mm is the standard.
35mm < "medium format"
35mm> "cropped"

Just like the smaller X, the Fuji GFX has the liberty of smaller sensor as it's a closed system with no legacy "full frame" lenses to cater to.

Out of my reach anyway...

and again no Tilt/Shift in the lens lineup. Same crap like Pentax. :bang: Really don't understand this as these kind of cameras are virtually predestined for landscape and architecture 😕

I don't understand your kind of comment since these are just the FIRST six lenses of a new camera system. Many more will likely follow.

I think this system will dominate medium format sales - essentially obsoleting the blad and Leica S systems.

The Leica S will die from this for sure. The Hasselblad X1D still has leaf shutters for those that need them and that might be something of a +1 for the Hasselblad but most people buying this probably won't need it. The H system will still dominate studio photography for a number of reasons. I think this camera will be a serious hit with wedding photographers and enthusiasts in almost every genre if they can afford it.

Oh yeah! 6x9 compared to the Fuji's size its basically large format 😛

Seems this way. Use the diagram as you please.

What is the need for a tilt/shift lens when that functionality can be handled by post processing software?

I would also like to point out that Fuji's very own new Instax square 'sensor' dwarfs this pseudo medium format digital thing.

Instax square - 62mm by 62mm

Digital (it will never catch on) fake mf - 43mm by 32mm

It's no wonder that Fuji sells way more Instax cameras than any other photo products.

;p

Focus stacking and nodal panning need relatively complicated rigs and setup, and will only work with static subjects. There are plenty of situations left where most photographers will prefer camera movements...
