My GS645S just arrived from Japan recently. When I check it I found out that light meter is not working. I changed the batteries over and over and i didn't work. Than suddenly I discovered that it's working but only when I press shutter release button fully down.
Everything else seems to be working fine. Shoot a test roll using external meter and pics were fine.

Have any of you experience similar problem? My first thought was that it must be some kind of mechanical issue. Maybe something just bend inside. I spoke with service man at one of second hand camera shops in my city. He said it could be mechanical or not. But he's too busy right now and I'm going on vacation in a few days and I want to take camera with me.

There is an easy workaround for my broken light meter. Just first measure, than rewind and shoot. Or use hand light meter if I rewind too fast ;)
But definitely would like to get it fixed when I'm back.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I think that there might be a problem with shutter release button. Try to remove the camera's top (that is rather simple) and check the button

PS. The switch 120-220 must be in 120 position when removing the top and when putting it back otherwise you may damage the switch

Now the light meter is supposed to work when you press the shutter release half way down. This is the meter's on/off switch, mine comes on when I press it down far enough to feel some resistance.

And now shutter stuck too...

And now shutter stuck too...

Thanks for the tips guys.
I'll need to go to service anyway – I shoot 13 films on vacations and shutter get stuck in the middle of 10th film.

Any advice I can try to unstuck it myself?

Just FYI.
Just received my camera from servicing.
Shutter and light meter are now working perfectly.

Serviceman said that someone was trying to open camera but done this all the wrong way. That's way light meter was not working and shutter sticked (some parts were bended).

Seller was probably aware of the problem because he refund me repairing costs ($80) with no problem at all.
