Fuji GSW690 photos

Hello, everybody!

Six weeks ago I got Fuji GSW690 from ebay in well used conditions.
I like this "real" camera - big and solid, but not too heavy (lighter then D700 + 17-35mm).
The 65mm lens is very sharp with high contrast and good colors.
The shutter is loud, but it's fine for landscape camera.

In case someone interested, these are photos from my "new" GSW690.
The film is Kodak Ektar 100, developed and scanned by NCPS.
Some photos are cropped for better composition.

It's amazing camera indeed, and not very expensive now.

I have been considering this camera for quite some time.

.....but what is the deal with the frame counter. Like, is the frame count significant?

When it reads a certain number do you send it away for an overhaul?

There's a fair bit of info online concerning theses cameras and their frame counts, I think
that every count is equivalent to a roll of 120 film. And somewhere between 500 and 999 they are supposed to be serviced. It's also frequently stated that they can go considerably longer than that before shutter servicing. I have no problem being corrected on this.

The counter is shots x10. That's what it says on the bottom & in the manual.
It's not a roll counter. Just trying to put that myth to bed.

Sure it is, if you count the clicks to load, or apply the correct Avoirdupois to Metric conversion. ;-) Don't forget to adjust for the short rolls and the 220?

I recall the instruction booklet telling you that the shutter should be overhauled at some number, probably 999?

I had mine serviced, but they did not reset the counter.

I have also heard that the shutter life does not seem to be a problem, probably works better with more rolls than less while sitting?

Great camera, I believe Igor had a 680 once, not originally sold in the US, but I too like the 6x9 format.

The III is a fairly light camera for its size and the case is quite strong.

I purchased a GSW69011 on ebay and took it out last week for it's trial run. Using a tripod and Pan F. Negatives look nice and sharp. Had them scanned but not all that happy with the results. I like the camera but it's going in for repair. The left side of the bright line finder isn't there and the split focus is difficult. Real dim. Must be the prism or something like that.

I'm a 6X9 guy and look forward to lots of good shoots. My fat Pentax is the sharpest 120 I've had. Much cleaner than then previous Hasselblad. However my old Mamiya Press with a 65mm was a jewel.

If anyone has any suggestions on this repair, I'd be happy to hear about it.
