Fuji has not forgotten the film camera

I know it would be very expensive but I'd like to see one of the Instax Wide backs with a RF focused Press camera lens. Say about a 100 mm f4 in a Copal shutter.

This is an update to the current INSTAX 210, right? The build looks more modern and the tripod socket is nice, but otherwise it seems very similar.

Lost amongst the Fuji digital announcement today.. A large format scale focus instant film camera.

Those other colors don't appeal to me but the basic black and LR size does interest me...

Very cool. I found this somewhat humorous, however:

...The Wide 300 will only run you $130, which doesn’t sound bad until you find out that each twin pack of 20 prints costs you $32. ...

Sheesh, that's only $1.60 per photo! I pay $3 per photo for Impossible's Polaroid film. And my buddy shooting quarter-plate spends $5 per negative, never mind the prints ... ! ]:)

I didn't know about the 210.. But the take away for me is.... Fuji sees enough business here to continue it as opposed to their gf670 discontinue announcement.

I just did the math and these cameras apparently need an image circle of about 118mm. I'm not sure a fast lens in that range with that IC has ever been made? I could be wrong. There are some fast 135mm lenses. The Xenar Press 135mm f/3.8 comes to mind.

It's just a cosmetic update to the 200 and 210 models which have been around forever. I think. The film size is not new at all.

Not new ... But the news is Fuji is not going to discontinue if they c enough business to push out a new camera.

That is the ugliest camera I think I have ever seen.

I thought the same thing when I saw it. It just looks very unappealing.

I've got the original Instax 210 wide and it's not exactly a pretty camera, but this one makes the 210 look cute in comparison.

It looks like it's a cross between the 210 wide and the Neo Classic, but after being hit with the ugly stick.

but with that said, it's a new camera in this digital age and I hate to diss on Fuji for that.

It looks like a disc camera! What is needed is a slightly larger XA2 with a better lens that costs less than $100. Something reliable, not a lomo. How hard could that be??? Doesn't even need to be a clamshell...

I was thinking... Use my flat bed Epson 750 flatbed scanner on the nice result from this :)

Gary

I've been looking at a mini 90 and then maybe a wide option too.
The V700 does fine scanning.
Recently Sold my Pack film holders and all the 4x5 out of the fridge.
I would like something instant though and simpler with less expensive readily available film.
I love instant. Who doesn't right? :)

It easily does better at scanning than I did at exposing :)

I have been enjoying the Instax Mini 90 and Instax 210 lately. The image quality isn't bad at all. I am not scanning the images well yet. That will take more practice.
The new camera looks as though it uses a larger film size than the 210. Do I have that wrong?
It will be interesting to see where Fuji takes the Instax platform going forward. I wonder how well a more sophisticated version (a.k.a Polaroid 195) would do in the market place?

Hey Andy..thanks for the sample. What dpi did u scan it in at

Gary

Hi Gary

The original is on my computer at home. I could send it or a better one full size if you like.
I usually leave the V700 at 2000dpi which in the case of the above image mean "Dust per inch".
These were all taken over a Holiday weekend and handed out to each person in the pic.
I collected them at the end of the weekend to scan and them gave em back. Very dusty!

Hoping to get some similar color/tones out of these new cameras/film !

Another from that pack. Better this time. I love the look.
