Ever since the film days when Fuji made the 120 roll film rangefinders, the “big Leicas,” Fuji has made cameras popular with rangefinder users. By introducing APS C mirrorless digital cameras with not only a conventional electronic viewfinder but also a bright-line optical finder (X Pro and X100s), it has won over a lot of folks use to small cameras with bright line finders, i.e. rangefinder users. Even the X E1, which only has an electronic finder, has become popular as a more economical back up body or a good small body for a zoom lens.

Unlike the Leica, which has been around for a long time, the Fuji X’s are relative newcomers. Where do you get good information on how to use them? There are enough folks here using them, that we ought to be able to come up with a list. I’ll start of with a website and appreciate any suggestions others have to make.

I would start with

http://www.fujix-forum.com/

There are a number if very useful threads about usage there. The thing is with firmware and raw software updates, some of the tips and techniques are out of date.

I think RFF is the best site to ask questions. The people here are more experienced in general. From reading other forums, many of the Fuji owners have very little experience with non-automated photography techniques.

There have been two threads on http://www.fujix-forum.com/ where people took severely underexposed photographs at ISO 64000 and 128000 and were concerned their cameras were defective because they saw artifacts. :bang: One person even sent their camera off for repair because they saw white dots at extreme ISOs with the lens cap on! Guess what? Fuji returned it saying it was working within specs.

The BJP run a test on the X-Pro-1 the camera that I long for, and it was written by a photographer. The review won me over, but the camera is very expensive, but now I have to consume all my film and it's quite a lot and get a bonus! Also the British Amateur Photographer run another extensive test which I have permanently open in my computer and will soon one day finish.

On a different posting Mr Pierce quoted an article that said that we where buying new stuff with what photography used to be, for instance, prime lenses in these rangefinder when the 18-55 zoom is as good and as "stabilized" as the 35 mm f/1.4?

I agree with Willie. The collective wisdom of RFF and the many expert early adopters who posted their experience and settings here proved the best resource for me.
