Layman's writeup on the organic sensor technology.

http://www.*****************/index....at-is-this-new-organic-sensor-thing/?p=155851

An interesting writeup, main talking points from an apsc perspective:
- very high iso
- minus 88db s/n
- very tight pixel spacing for potentially very high pixel count
- very high dynamic range

No matter if we are talking about p&s or 1 inch or m43 or apsc or ff sensor, so long as u are using the max pixel spacing of the technology, u are going to c -88db s/n.. In comparison the d800 is -43db according to the writeup.

If Fuji and Panasonic can bring this to market, even if they don't get to any of these theorectical numbers, it is still going to be way better then what we have today.

The question is..for those in the camera industry, what is correct and what is pure speculation on the writers part?

I give up.. I don't understand what is going on.. Every time a site name is detected I get those ************

Anyway setup a google search on "organic sesnor" site should be the fujix-forum... If I add the dot com I will get the *********** again.

It is the first hit in the search. Article was written by MikeS.

Here is the URL replace the "dot" with "." If I use the normal naming convention right now I am getting those ********** everytime I try to past it in, no mater what I try right now.

Maybe it will be the sensor that finally gets rid of these ugly digital highlights in B&W. As for the increased resolution, it will only bring more problems with lenses, alignment, etc. Also, I am not clear if live view will be available.

I think that the organic sensor may also bring the Biogons back to life. Evidently, Sony is also working on the technology. Of course, you never know where the technology will end up. Many uses for sensors outside of our interest.

why do biogons need to be brought back to life? have they passed on without my notice? my 35/2 seems well enough...

Thanks for sharing Gary. I am particularly interested in the gains in dynamic range.
Higher resolution is nice I guess - no need for telephoto lenses with 75 mp.
But increases in dynamic range is just what is needed today.
It is fun to see the technology get better year by year.
