Vince! I hadn't seen this post before. What a marvelous photograph of the man! Was this, by chance, shot with a Fuji?
I've been LOVING my G690BL since I got it back from Frank. It really is worth it to send it away, as I feel entirely confident in my results now. I recently lost the rectangular eye piece on mine and replaced it with a circular one from a Konica Autoreflex T, which was the perfect diameter for the eyepiece. This camera will outlast me.

Does anyone know if Frank is still repairing cameras? I have sent a couple of emails with no reply. Thanks!

I think he does his business mainly by phone nowadays, that's what I read on one of the forums.
I sent him an email once inquiring for a part (GW690III aperture tabs) because one of mine has split.
BTW. If someone knows where to get one of this parts (which I would replace just for comfort) I'd be glad to hear.

eMails to Frank often do not work.....
eMails to Frank often do not work.....
I learned a long time ago that getting Frank on the phone is productive. Email is not.
He has probably revived or sent me excellent work on a dozen Fuji's from bellows (3) on GS645 to a number of 690's (all models) and the ZI.. new data cable to back LCD.
I learned on the second instance to forget eMail. He's a busy man. Hope he stays so. Good man also.
He lives on the East Coast and I live in Oregon. Turns out he went to camera school with the fellow who was our local camera person 40 years plus ago. We've had some great, albeit short conversations over the last 15 years.
My last Fuji GL690 rebuilt from Frank was just a few months ago... 4 or 5.

Yup, he is more of a phone man (though I do get the infrequent email reply from him). and he is most definitely still repairing cameras -- he currently has a Leica IIIb and a 50/1.5 Xenon lens of mine that hopefully he'll be able to revive.
BTW that portrait of him was shot with my Monochrom and a 50/1 Noctilux.

Anyone heard from Frank lately? I've been calling him for the last few weeks. He doesn't answer and won't return my messages.

I hope he is still repairing. I wanted to send him a Mamiya lens I have.

Is he still repairing? Any idea what the approximate price of a Fujica G690BL CLA he would charge?

I tried to reach Frank in the summer and never got a response. I'm guessing he retired, unfortunately. He was about the best repairman for Ilex shutters. He bought out all the parts when Ilex went out of business. He said he had pretty much had enough parts to repair any Ilex even the #5.
If he retired I hope he has a great and long retirement.

Just FYI, I just got off the phone (540-867-9671) with Frank and he's semi-retired, repairing and such 'two or three days a week'. I'm boxing up my GW690II for a much needed general CLA. Mostly the helicoid has become annoyingly stiff but it's too good a camera to just sit around. Anyhoo...
Lucky me, er, lucky us.

Excellent news! Frank know is stuff and is the only game in town that has parts for Ilex shutters plus he's a super nice guy.

Is Frank still repairing Fujicas?
Or does anyone know a repairman in EU or UK for a GM670 with spacing issues?

Are you getting weird wide spacing, usually in the same places on a roll? This seems to be a thing with the GLs and GMs and modern films, and spacing is largely hard-wired.

Dante,
there's talk of me getting one but it might have 'a spacing issue' and I haven't heard back yet about what this issue exactly is.
I have no problem with wide spacing, but wouldn't want images to overlap... Hard wired spacing and an issue with modern film wouldn't bother me much, I have a freezer full of films that aren't exactly modern
