fuji site has updated firmware for the x's

Fuji state "much improved AF" for both bodies, I'm curious what current users will think after trying it out!

As far as I can tell only the 35mm lens firmware is upgraded (OK, I don't have to zoom, so I didn't check...).

I have - X Pro 1 @ 2.03, 35mm @ 2.02 and 18mm and 60mm @ 2.01

Nice..
I don't know if it IS faster (I didn't do any times prior to 2.03) but it SEEMS faster now after 2.03.

Of course, the real test will be in low light - this is however is going to not just test the AF but if it continues to hunt - and the hunting is partially due to not having high contrast situations on the subject you're focusing on. At least that's how I understand it *LOL* :)

Cheers,
Dave

I'am a little nervous about updating the firmware on mine. Just worried about 'bricking' the camera like i did a wireless router once.

There's no worries...it's a fool proof update and I haven't heard of anyone bricking their camera because of it.

In my quick & dirty testing, the low light AF on the 35 is better, i.e., less hunting. Haven't noticed any change w/the 18.

Don't stress ... I was worried, too, as I have a way of breaking all things computerized. WEnt off without a hitch. ;)

Also, from the 3 test shots I took, AF seems faster, and the 35mm didn't even hunt in low light (like it did for me at a shoot a week ago...)

Did the update and a quick check in low light might suggest a slight focus improvement. It will be interesting to try it in good daylight.

As always, I suspect, its an incremental Fuji placebo released in the hope that everyone will just accept its some sort of stellar leap forward, which it isn't!

Ho Hum........zzzz....zzzz wake me up if this camera ever comes alive!

I dunno. To me, both the accuracy and speed of autofocus in bad light are markedly better with this latest firmware update. I had just about stopped carrying the 35mm after a holiday season of back-focus, slow-focus and no-focus problems, and was using mostly M-lenses. But after several test shots indoors today (AF-S, depressing the shutter button in one motion without waiting for focus confirmation), I now believe I'll be comfortable using the X-E1 / 35 Fujinon as my basic kit. And the focusing noise of the lens doesn't seem louder than before, at least to my ears.

I played around with the 35/1.4 in EV ~ 5-6 light. I only used MF with the AF button press. In EVF things seemed a bit better. But OVF seemed noticeably improved. Tomorrow I play around and see I'd there's a difference in avoiding focusing on higher contrast objects behind a closer intended focus point.

For some reason, the download for the - FUJINON XF Lens: XF35mm Firmware Update Ver.2.02, does not work. It keeps taking me elsewhere. I did the body. Can't download the lens firmware. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks John. Honestly, I don't know what's happening. Either I'm crazy or it wasn't there.... I did the body earlier, now the lens...

Thanks again.
