So some observant people of the internet noticed with that roadmap change came a change in the apparent appearance and function of the 23mm f1.4 lens due in October.
Observe - it appears quite a bit smaller. Scaling from the roadmap it looks to be inbetween the 35mm and 14mm in size. Note there is also a distance scale - meaning it is going to have the 14mms snap back focus ring.

It looks like it will have depth-of-field marks & pull to manual focus mechanism like 14mm. Yay!

I read somewhere that all Fujifilm lenses going forward will have aperture rings, sans the 27mm of course.

That is the most ridiculously funny image I've seen all morning. Thanks for the giggle.

I think Fuji's doing it right.
I no longer have the system (I pared down my systems over the last couple months and still have some decisions to make for my own "roadmap" per se) but the one thing that bugs me about OTHER camera systems is the lack of something so simple (the depth-of-field scale) which can benefit a photographer so much.
I oft wonder why other companies can't put that thing back on their lenses - Fuji gets it... and that's one reason why this system is successful in my opinion.
Cheers,
Dave

I don't think we will see this often until another purely manual focus camera is made. Outside of that, we will see a few lenses that have it, but not many. I hope I'm wrong though.

I WILL have this lens. This lens and the X-Pro 1 kills any vestiges of Leica GAS I had.

I wonder/hope that Fuji goes all out and develops a parallel line of manual focus lenses. More compact, with the same glass they're pumping out now in the auto-focus lenses. No doubt, however, if this happens some knucklehead marketing guy at Fuji will deem these manual focus gems as a "Pro" line and thus charge an extra premium for them. :bang:

Or someone like CV could license the mount from Fuji and provide third party lenses like Samyang and Rikinon already have that are pure manual focus.
I kind of doubt Fuji will go down the mf path until they have fully expanded out their af line..if at all.. The majority of the market today is af.

All right. A depth of field scale. Now we are talking. I might consider it. It was not something that I had to ave from the road map, but dof scale puts it on my hit list. I totally forgot it was going to have the dof scale.
