I don't see an X-T1 image thread, so I thought I'd start one.

Mike and David, are you guys heavily post-processing the contrast in your photos? The landscape and the portrait of the lady in the restaurant are both great, but I'm curious if this sensor is capable of a gentler tonality.

Samourai, yes the native tonality is gentler. Too gentle if you're a push TriX type 😉 My presets pretty much crush the blacks in these pics, by choice (probably not the best one but that's my weakness). The shadows can open up pretty well with these files, in my limited experience (only had the camera a short while), though people do criticize the x-trans' dynamic range.

Samourai,

As Mike said, yes, I too crush the blacks in my post. The RAW images are very low contrast, and they're actually very wide DR...much wider than my M9 (if that's a fair comparison).

Personally, I like color with natural contrast, but b&w with a hard edge. I personally like the emotion and mood it adds.

Thanks for the explanation guys. I should have noticed that Chris's abstracts were a little gentler. Nice frames, though I do personally prefer my own BW to have a smoother curve. Thanks for sharing.

David always seems to like heavy blacks and lots of grain...that's just his deal. Gotten used to it. By the way, the tat
too artist is FREAKY....cool photo, captured my attention!!
