Classic chrome and electronic shutter fw updates?
http://www.fujirumors.com/kaizen-fu...-classic-chrome-too-according-to-pocket-lint/
I can c that the Fuji 100s could get the fw update for the electronic shutter since the sensor is the same design as the one on the x100t and has better digital and CPU path then x100. The x100 has a different sensor.

I just want classic chrome. The samples look so nice, and I never thought I would want something like film simulations, but I really love the the film sims in the X100.
RAW+JPEG gives me one for posterity and small file to quickly share that looks great sooc. Also the ability to custom tailor JPEG with the RAW developer in camera is so awesome; do other brands have this?
I don't care about the electronic shutter because it means nothing for flash sync and honestly sounds like a gimmick to impress the tech geeks. The camera already has a built in ND filter... 1/4000 of a second is not that limiting in combination with a ND filter not to mention photos in bright light tend to kinda suck...

I used to think the same way until I started using the electronic shutter on the gm1. It is dead quiet. The leaf shutter on the Fuji x100 family are very quiet as well. But the biggest advantage to electronic shutter is that leaf shutters at highest shutter speed can only obtain that speed when the aperture is stopped down. With an electronic shutter u can shoot wide open w/ max shutter speed. The down side of electronic shutter are in areas -
- jello effect of horizontal action across the frame
- florescent lights causes weird color issues
- no flash sync
It would be nice if the camera would automatically switch to electronic when the leaf shutter cannot obtain the desire shutter speed for the given shutter speed.

Right, isn't the limit on the X100 1/1000 th @ f/2? I am just saying with respect to the X100 a 3 stop build in ND makes that equivalent to 1/8000 @ f/2 in broad daylight. A 1/32,000 that is a still a two stop advantage but that is some seriously bright light! Now if you had the XF 56 mm f/1.2 in broad daylight it likely would mean no need for an ND filter which I bet many XT-1 shooters will love.
I am with you that its not that gimmicky given Fuji's fast speed lenses on X-series. It just that the X100 is such a well thought out product i.e. leaf shutter limitations are ameliorated with the built in ND filter.

Yeah true. But I still c complaints from first time Fuji x100 users about the shutter speed issue. I think faster shutter speed is probably not normally need past 1/4000. But on the other hand, ever try to take a picture of a humming bird and do stop action stuff on something that is moving really fast.

Yeah but those are extreme situations, and frankly not situations that the Fuji X100 is designed to capture. Simple solution setup strobes by the flower, stop down to f/4 and shoot at 1/4000 th!! Wait for the bird and blast it with lights lol...
All I know is that the leaf shutter lets you shoot off camera flash in broad daylight and in combination with the ND filter you can achieve some spectacular results.
In my old fashioned mind, an equivalent exposure (3 stop ND) of 1/8000 @ f/2 is a extremely bright scene at iso 200. Stopping down one stop allows you to achieve an even more extreme equivalent exposure of 1/16,000 at f/2.8 as the maximum shutter speed becomes 1/2000 @ f/2.8. The built in ND filter is like having the electronic shutter in some ways... if the light is brighter than that then we are likely trying to take a picture of the sun.

Yeah agreed for the x100 not a natural for the x100. The last part was more of a general comment for csc cameras and faster electronic shutter like what Fuji has released. True about strobe, but one doesn't always have them around on the spur of the moment situation.

I'm not seeing enough in the X100T to make me want to upgrade from my X100S, but I would sure like to get that Classic Chrome simulation!

I do hope that the X100s gets the firmware upgrades as I'm looking at selling my X-Pro 1, 18,35 & 60 mm lenses to allow me to buy the wide & tele converters plus the new X100 hand grip. I've found I take the X100s more often than the X-Pro 1 when I go out resulting in the X-Pro 1 getting little use. I'm looking for more than enough to buy the above mentioned kit plus leave me with some money left over for an extra battery too but I'm waiting on a quote from my supplier first to make up my mind.
