Fuji x100 street examples!

Everyones been bleating for decent street shots from the x100 - I just noticed a user on flickr has started posting them on his photostream. There's one iso 1000 example there at the moment. I think there's more to come too:

on the other hand, this photographer is a good example of talent trumping camera almost every time. Great photo's from what looks like a very promising camera.

Agreed, though that's not color fringing in the traditional sense - it's most likely a jpeg artifact on a high saturation mode.

Those are indeed some very impressive and promising (about the camera) shots.

I see the shot of the children running towards the camera is sharp and in focus. This tells us the autofocus is very fast and accurate. Every new post for the X100 tells us this camera is a winner across the board! I own 2 M8's and I would be lucky to get a shot absolutely sharp with the subjects running towards me. Quite frankly the M8, M9, or any M would be a pain in the butt for this type of shot unless I would be using my 15mm Super Wide Heliar.

The more I see this camera, the more I want it. It really is better than the Leica X1 and in some situations, better than the M9 or M8 given the situation. I wonder what a 50mm f1.2 version of this camera would be like?

A grand is a really good buy for this.

Another point: Thank goodness this post has shots taken in true documentary style in a far away third world location. I get tired of seeing photos of cats, wine glasses, etc,,,,. This is real street photography done with a tool Fuji designed for that type of photography.

Ill bet you will see photojournalists with this thing when they do not want to lug around a D3 with lenses.

I wonder how Leica will feel when that happens!

We lug around big, heavy cameras and lenses because they survive. I understand the lust here at RFF. But I'm not convinced photojournalists are going to flock to this camera.

Leica optical designers optimized their lenses for capturing the fine detail in cat faces...wide open, sharp across the fur of view.

Agree with Pickett...but for different reasons. Hardiness is one aspect. But PJs will also stick with their superzooms, strobes, grips, bag full of lenses, etc. SLRs are the jack of all trades. RFs are fun to work with, but I'm not convinced they are better street cameras or anything cameras. I love the ergonomics and the interface (hence I'm on this forum) but I had to move from RFs to DSLRs because I needed digital and couldn't afford a digital RF.

Now I have to think strongly about the x100. It can do a lot of what I need a camera to do, and provide a direct view as well.

I wouldn't be surprised to see David Alan Harvey with one, as he claims to photograph almost always at 35mm focal length and is a "one lens one film" kinda guy. This camera seems made for him!

I wouldn't be surprised to see David Alan Harvey with one, as he claims to photograph almost always at 35mm focal length and is a "one lens one film" kinda guy. This camera seems made for him!

He raves about the GF1 + 20mm kit so I think this would be ideal for him.

I think you'll see it become very popular as a backup or 2nd camera for photojournalists. That's what I'll be buying it for - as a supplement to my DSLR.
