Hi
I am thinking about buying a fuji x100. It has now dropped to $1000.
Is it worth buying now or waiting for the x200 ?
suggestions?
Thx

I just bought one -taking delivery this past Friday.
Paid a bit more as it was a new "Black." Wish I had done it long ago!

As the rumor mill goes, there is a planned X200(?) coming next year.

Why wait? It's the perfect digital companion.

what?
If you don't buy an X100 now, just wait until the X200 (?) is announced and the price on the X100 drops, then buy an X100 (new, used or refurbished).
Wait 2 years for the X300 to be announced and buy the X200 (new, used or refurbished).
That is my honest opinion.

Is that the one that comes as a kit with the wide angle lens attachment?

No, not the wide angle ... rather the adapter, hood, filter, neveready, and a neato presentation box -in black, of course.
A real beauty!

CES is right around the corner, might as well wait until Jan 8-11 to see if Fuji announces anything substantial.

Isn't the X200 an X-E1 with the X100 hybrid viewfinder?
But then the X-Pro1 would have to be moved upscale, isn't it?

The new one will have the x-trans sensor. So if you care about shooing in RAW the older camera may be a better option. It is unclear (at least to me) as to whether Fuji will ever work with Adobe to get the best quality from the x-trans sensor in ACR.

The interesting thing for me as a new user is that: I may just become a JPG shooter with the X100.

Never wait. The X100 is a gem, especially the recent builds where the sticking aperture blades seems to have been solved. No guarantee the new one will be better in every way.

Great if it works for you, but that is not an option for many people.

with the X100 and X-PRO1, the cameras seemed to improve after updated firmware after 6-12 months and if RAW is important to you, then X100 is probably the way to go

Understood and agreed.
I guess I was trying to say that I am impressed with the OOC JPG's -at least moreso than I have seen from other cameras.
Rather than be a RAW slave as I am -I find my experience with the X100 rather liberating.

"RAW slave." Yes, that's it.

Wait. Let the reviews and prices guide you. Every review will be a comparison. Don't expect availability at CES.

Yes, it's worth buying now because it is a great camera. The X-200 may not be available for 6 month or so... for all we know.

But with that thinking you'll never actually buy a camera, since there is some upgrade always around the corner...

What I am saying is buy the design that is just going out of style.
