As I think about it, I would be ok w/ 14f4 if they could shrink the lens length down..

Funny to even type this out. ...
A "lens cap" 14mm f8 would be a really fun camera. Like a digital Zeiss Holagon

Mine's been on order at Henry's Canada for so long that the PayPal pending payment finally expired. I replaced the order a few days ago. Fast focusing, 16mp Xtrans-sensored, sharp 35/2 lensed RF with split screen... no-brainer!

I think the X100s has big shoes to fill.
Besides the new focusing capabilities, I look forward to the 16 megapixels of data... perfect for filling up the full capacity of my 13-inch wide printer.

Worthy of consideration but I would wait not for a used market but for the bugs to be worked out of the new cam.
Seid Reid's recent review of the X100s seems to indicate that Fuji has left few if any 'bugs' in the camera. And the new focusing options are VERY robust.

Joe, have you heard/read anything indicating when Canadian stores might start seeing deliveries of the camera?

How quick did you find it? How much travel on the focusing ring? The split rangefinder focusing is quite impressive and in the few test shots I took was dead accurate.

Thanks, Joe. More waiting, but as they say: "Absence makes the heart grow fonder".

I've just bought an used X100 for less than the half price two days ago. I'll do the same with the X100s. Never the newest, always the cheapest
It's funny but this is one camera where there is no wrong way to buy it... if you decide to buy now, you get a great camera. If you decide to wait, you get a great and cheap camera.

An even wiser move

AF was quick even in the low lighting of my living room in the evening. The manual focusing ring travel was comparable to a lens with a short focus throw, something like the Elmar-M 50/2.8. Manual focus response was very positive too. I only played with the camera for about 10 to 15 minutes, so I'm not sure my comments are much help though

Thanks, it is anyway good to hear first-hand experience about the focus throw. Can't wait to have a chance to try it myself. If I like it, I may buy it.

Yesterday I decided to sell my X100. The combination of LR 4.4 RC and seeing the sensor performance differences in yesterday's DPREVIEW article pushed me over the edge. I'm going all XTrans.
My current plan is to sell the X100 and buy the 14/2.8 XF. I will buy the next generation, interchangable lens X body with an OVF. The XP1 would become my back up body. I will also pick up the 85/1.4 and 23/1.4.
ps: if I sell it to an RFF member, it will only be through the RFF classifieds
