Fuji X20 - Looks a Killer on the every day with you camera!!

There are some things that are indisputable. Shooting with an OVF is a preferred method for most on this board, I'm pretty sure.

That being said, I have both a Fuji X100 and just before Christmas, got a Sony RX100.

I prefer by far the shooting experience of the X100. I like a solid camera, holding it to my eye, and generally shooting like a rangefinder.

*However*...

Since I got the RX100 I've picked up the Fuji twice. The RX100 is totally pocketable, has a zoom range that would normally require a lens the size of a coffee can on a dSLR, has about as many pixels as my 5DmkII, is faster than the X100 in both focus and shooting/storage, and generally has the same IQ. The only two things I don't prefer for a super-compact like the RX is that it doesn't have the 50mm wide-open bokeh for portraits (you can get some, but it's not effortless), and I don't prefer waving the camera at arms' length to shoot.

The Fuji X20 looks like a terrific camera, but if I require an OVF, the X100 is a much better shooter, both technically and comfort-wise.

If I don't need the OVF, well...the RX100 is a much better camera, period. I very often wonder why I still need the 5DmkII (yes, I said that).

I just did not bond with the RX100, ,had a made in Japan model, just sold it. I liked it fine, found it small at best and that was both nice and not so nice. I like a VF, spoiled since my GXR but I want one built in. I have pre-ordered the X20 and have some other Fuji things on my mind, Fuji is on a roll right now but time will tell if the 20 is going to be as good for it's size as the XE is..if it is it will change many things, the added size I see as an advantage as I now use a small case and strap with my cameras over putting them in a pocket or on my belt. Sure it was nice to put the RX100 in a coat pocket, can do that with the fuji too, I never put in my shirt or pants pockets, too skiddish for that. There is sometimes a compromise between IQ one has to make if it is not far off and there is nothing negative of the X10 with the new sensor that I have heard. Hoping the 20 is just that much more.

I think the RX100 competes more with the Fuji XF1 than the X20. I think Canon has a model, too. These are truly designed to be pocketable. The X10/X20 may fit in a big pocket but is more of an enthusiasts camera, where function equals or trumps image quality.

I have a Olympus XZ1. Great images but don't enjoy using it much because it is too small. Great on a hiking or canoe trip.

Fuji's bow shot on rx100 :)

Not sure if it has been posted here yet... Anyway, I found this today. Presentation by Fuji about the x20 having better iq then rx100 or even the prior generation m43 12mp camera sensors.

For me the form factor of the x10 and the x20 is bigger than what I am after for this type of camera (fit in jean pocket), which is hwy I bought the rx100 as well as for the bigger sensor at the time. The xf1 w/ an xtran upgrade would be of more interest to me provided its LCD screen is as good as the rx100 which can handle the brightest sunlight of any screen I have ever used..
