It's not like I won't tell you - it's that it's FEEL.

Anyone can take a couple cans of pureed tomatoes (sometimes "crushed") with, a half dozen cans of tomato paste (I prefer "Contadino" brand - but it's to your taste).

And then there is the garlic and onions and oregano and basil and thyme and (sometimes, depending on mood) the rosemary and. of course, the bay leaf - not to mention to anchovie paste and the salt and pepper.

That's just the base.

You also have to deciide on the meat (?)

I ofthen now use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. But also sometimes have to "gp back to roots" with the latter.

And there is also the sausage alternative. Traditional. of course, is pork - but for a lighter touch, I sometimes use turkey.

We're "spicy" types so I always get the "hot" sausage rather than the "sweet".

Now, what the heck does this have to do with RFF and film and the end of the media anyway? 😀

there are lots of precedents for going OT so don't worry. There are a few other foodies around here, I have to send a few recipes out , I'll try and include you with something interesting. Maybe French tho since you have the Italian thing staked out.

It is an unfortunate state of affairs. The film industry is taking a beating. We are seeing it in the financial losses by Kodak and Fuji as well as the closures or ceasing in production of Industry Icons like: Agfa, Contax, and Petersen's Photographic.

At present, all we can do is grin and bear it. There will be Professional Labs available for our processing for some. Higher costs definitely, faster turnaround often, better QC standards and results than amateur labs and processors- usually.

In a few short years we'll be returning to 'pioneering' days with film. There weren't many suppliers early on, and it even took awhile for 35mm film to become widely available after the Leica was invented.

Perhaps we'll be like classic car owners. Proud of our 'vehicles' and attracting a crowd when we put on a show! 😀

Jeez...do We Have To Hear Every One Of Your "doom And Gloom" Updates?

Yes - Film Is Dead.

As In - Dead, Dead, Dead.

Last Weekend I Shot Two Rolls Of "dead Film"

Enough - Already!

If You Have A Job - Spend More Time On It.

If You Are Retired - Find Another "fixation"!!!!

But, Really ---

If You Think Your Remaining Virtue In Life Is To Memorialize The "death Of Film"....

Please Don't Agonize Us With Every "friggin'" Episode!!!

As My Italian Grandmother Would Say: "basta"

To whom points this answer ? Bmattock ?

Do you have to read every one of my "Doom and Gloom" updates?

Yes - Film Is Dead.

Correct.

As In - Dead, Dead, Dead.

Correct, correct, correct.

Last Weekend I Shot Two Rolls Of "dead Film"

Me, too.

Enough - Already!

Enough what?

If You Have A Job - Spend More Time On It.

I am very busy at work, but at the moment I am eating a turkey sandwich for lunch.

If You Are Retired - Find Another "fixation"!!!!

I'm not retired.

But, Really ---

Really, really, or just kind of really?

If You Think Your Remaining Virtue In Life Is To Memorialize The "death Of Film"....

Yes, someday I'll be famous for it. That's my goal. You figured me out.

Please Don't Agonize Us With Every "friggin'" Episode!!!

Where is the setting on your web browser that makes you read threads that are clearly labeled? I hate for you to be antagonized.

As My Italian Grandmother Would Say: "basta"

Enough? Never enough! Bacilo, ragazzo grande!

Seriously, I do not take glee in posting news stories about film plants shutting down, etc. I post them because they are happening, and they have a profound impact on our photography. I'm sorry the news is not good - but it is reality.

Do you prefer not to hear about bad news? You can avoid such threads by not reading them. Others seem to prefer to know what's going on with regard to film photography, but if the general consensus here is that everyone prefers not to know about what's going on 'out there' then I'll stop posting such news stories.

I note only that pretending that such things are not happening by ignoring them will not change what happens. Personally, I prefer to keep myself informed, so I can make intelligent decisions. But please do as you wish. Remember, you control what threads you choose to read here, not me.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Way to go Bill, LOL.

This is a big deal for people that live in the area.

Let's face it, we've never had it so good and it's downhill from here.

Film costs are generally low, processing costs are low and printing costs are low (or almost nil if you just view a scanned neg or post to the web). You can buy almost any normal film equipment for historically low costs on *bay. Costs will rise over time, choice will decrease and we will either use what film is left or go digital.

There was a letter in one of the UK photo magazines recently about a guy who found his set of 24 colour prints and negs from early 1970's still wrapped in the receipt from the processor. The cost was about £3 or £4 - the equivalent of $20 or more today. We may be heading for those times again. Enjoy film while it lasts or while it is still cheap.

I never liked Fuji films, but they are the big player with what's left in the film business. 😎

I use no other film, and I will continue to use it (I buy mine from Japan) but I do feel bad for those who lost their jobs. As one who was laid off many years ago I know what they are going through. These decisions are mostly made by people who are far removed both literally and metaphorically from the people affected.
