I am happy with Ilford films, but for those who prefer Fuji Acros, this is good news.

That's a consideration, but there is no guarantee than the new one will be better than the old one. It could be like "New Coke" for all we know at this point. I am not saying that it will be, by any means, but we just don't know.

Good points, definately. I recall some changes made to Provia slide film over the years, and they were all improvements and eventually led me to be a Provia-only shooter for many years. Still a favorite of mine.


I never really bonded with Acros though, finding Delta 100 to work much better with my particular darkroom and scanning abilities. I bought entirely too much and I'd probably be doing the community a service if I sell some here in the classifieds. Better you guys use it than I hoard it unloved in my freezer!

I'm more of a color slide shooter, myself, but a resurrected film is a good sign for Fuji's commitment to film and for the film market in general. Very good news.

I've only used Acros 100 once just before it was dropped. I hit development, exposure 100% on my first and only try. Besides that I like the results: tonality, shadow detail, contrast. So I will be buying some when it hits the market.

I enjoyed it in all types of light, but it shined for me in open shade:

A poor translation. Try substituting granularity for graininess.

I just hope that it has similar spectral sensitivity and tonality and the same reciprocity characteristics, and is available again in all formats. The problem with losing films that is rarely discussed is that with each discontinuation the options for tone shrink. When Plus-X was discontinued most users seemed to switch to FP4+, even though TMY-II is closer tonally. It was worse with Acros because it was the only B&W film that really worked well for very long exposures. At 10s+ exposure, it was by far the fastest sheet film on the market.

I'll post this one because our friend the late Roger Hicks liked it.

I would suggest to try few cassettes first. I have tried it in 120 format and ... it is odd film. IMO.
