Has anyone noticed one of the films in the picture preceding the article is Kodak Ektar 100? I wonder if Kodak knows Fuji is discontinuing 35mm Ektar 100? LOL

Give it a try while you still can! Slide film in 120 is amazing. Gawd, I wish I could be in Australia with some rolls of the stuff. Though I would probably have it developed back here in the US where it's still reasonable, if a bit of an indulgence.

I love 120 size slide film too. Processing is still chap in the USA though. I paid $4.10 a roll for the 40 rolls I just shot on my trip to New Mexico at CSW Film Systems in Chicago. Quality was great!

I've never gotten such blues from a digital camera, ever.

I kinda miss mine too. I used a C330F to do my graduation project from art school 12 years ago, but had to sell it a couple years later to buy food. I was really poor back then because I couldn't find a job and hadn't yet found any success selling my photographs. It was a great camera. I'm shooting a Hasselblad now, and I love it, but the C330f was a great one too.

Its Fuji Provia 100F (RDP III). Scanned with a Nikon LS-8000ED. Check out the rest of my photos from my trip. All the color ones are 120 size RDP III. I shot 40 rolls of it, so I have only a fraction of the photos scanned so far....stay tuned for more!

I did shoot a few rolls of black and white. I wanted to photograph Mary Mora again in black and white, because I have always used black and white for my portraits of her. Her place is so terribly dark too, that 3200 black and white film is really the only option for shooting film without ugly flash (I know some digital cameras now have very good ISO 3200 and higher performance, but I don't have and cannot afford one of them).

I used color for everything else because I used to live out there, and everything is so colorful that I shot a lot of color. I did the medium format slide film thing 4 yrs ago when I drove to Indiana to pick up my son when he came to Santa Fe to visit me when I lived there. I loved what I got, so I decided to do it again for this trip.

These were shot on Kodak E100GX (sadly gone!) in a Mamiya 645 four years ago

hmm, I was just there lol! judging by the dates, we missed each other by almost exactly one month. I recall seeing that obama grafiti, too lol.

the sky was VERY blue. I shot velvia 50; I hope that the blue comes through trolololol.

Im sad to see Astia go, never really got a chance to shoot it.

I managed to buy Neopan 400 in boston, 36 exposure 135, at the end of August, fwiw. The same store had been out when I left in May.

Calumet in the Netherlands was not able to order new Neopan 400 since over 4 months ago.
All Major film suppliers in germany say the same: NEOPAN 400 IN 35MM IS GONE!!

Recent earthquake/tsunami in Japan (people forgot that already?) has interrupted a lot of production.

Wait...that means...production in Japan is discontinued. OVER!! Sell, sell!

I think it is a question of figures. If not enough films are sold the production and the logistic become too expensive. What for some of us is a passion for these company is a business and figures have to be justified. Sadly.

Provia (RDPIII) is a full generation later than Astia (or any other makers reversal film - Kodak's latest just about met the specifications of Astia/Velvia F).

Sorry, that is wrong.

Provia 100F (RDPIII) was introduced in 2001.
Astia 100F, Sensia 100 (III) and Velvia 100F were introduced in 2003, as well as Kodak Elitechrome 100, E100G and E100GX.
Velvia 100 was introduced in 2005.
Provia 400X and T64 II were introduced in 2007.

What happened to Super HQ 100 ASA?

It may have been like El-Cheapo film at Wal-Mart but I found a great way of shooting it and I really like the results, now I go back to Wal-Mart to buy some and it's all gone and I can't find it anywhere online for like $6 what a 4 pack cost........anyone sell it selling anyplace for that amount???

Does anyone have any lagered/stored away that they would sell??? - Write me 🙂

im pretty bummed about the official news of astia's demise, though its clearly true for the past few months. its my 'go to' film, with a bit of provia 400x now and then. nice, natural colours and great shadow detail for scanning. i better see about charging up my freezer stash...
