Fujifilm GFX R coming in 2018?

"Range Finder Medium Format Mirrorless İntercangeable Lens Camera"

My film cameras are good enough, my film cameras are good enough, my film cameras are good enough..

If it's (or if there ever is) a fixed lens camera I'm in.

Hope when size is no longer a top priority they could finally implement some proper manual/hyper focus method.

Possibly it will be a rangefinder. The Fuji "Texas Leicas" were popular with medium format film shooters.

But it won't be a rangefinder because that won't fit in with any product in their X line already. They'd have to come up with an entirely new line of lenses to work with a mechanical rangefinder. I'll be excited to see it anyways though.

That would certainly be true if it were an interchangeable-lens camera. If, however, it were a fixed lens rangefinder (in the spirit of Fuji's 'Texas Leica', mentioned in post #5), then there'd be no need for a whole new 'line of lenses'. 🙂

A digital 'Texas Leica' would hold a great deal of appeal for me, although the price............... wouldn't. 😱

Would moving the EVF slightly to the left really make the camera platform more palatable than it already is? I highly doubt they're going to introduce another ergonomic option for people who simply MUST feel like they're shooting with an RF.

But no where in the rumor does it mention a fixed lens camera. Also, they're 99% more likely to make it like the X100, drive by wire/evf/etc in a bigger body with a bigger sensor. Don't kid yourself.

If you ever handled the GFX, you would sure think different. My answer: Yes, it will greatly change the handling of the camera. Even more, if they make the body smaller overall. RF-style would of course mean, that the tilt-able EVF would be no option for that camera, but an integrated finder similar to the X-pro would make it a totally different camera. Also, I think, one could expect, redesigned button- and dials-layout, that is more suitable for setting parameters when having the camera in front of the eye.

I think, it is a likely move considering the two top APS-C lines with X-Pro and X-t.

Not sure, if I would trade my GFX for it, as I prefer a real RF over the RF-styled mockups, but I think, they attract a lot of people.

My film cameras are better than any digital camera. And I only need to say it once 😉

What if I told you....I have handled a GFX! 😱

Why on earth would they take on the expense of using a mechanically-coupled rangefinder mechanism when they've had such success with A/F viewfinder bodies?

I would expect an X-Pro on steroids, that takes GFX lenses.

What's curious is the rumor also claims the R being priced lower than the S, which was not the case with the X-Pro2 and X-T2.

Could only wonder what that means - a likely (and pretty realistic) scenario is it's the giant X100 that will compete against the RX1 and the Q.
