The Leica Q focusing scale is a little odd because it skips over the usual 2-3-5-10 meter marks.

Interesting! Yeah, I can see how that can be really annoying/deal killer for some. I never noticed, but I've only handled the Q very briefly in the store. I can see walking outside with a brand new Q and trying to zone focus and being like WTF???!?!?!!??!!

But Moriyama was still using his cheap Nikon Coolpix as of like, last month. The link between photography style and commodity the ad trying to suggest always seems a bit off to me...

The X100 commercials always look the same though. Buy the camera and become that hard-boiled man or women strolling down the street.

for those that used the previous models, is the grip big enough or shaped well enough on this model? It looks too shallow and/or poorly shaped.

Note that like many photographers working in that style, he almost never use the viewfinder...

My opinion is when I do street photography,
their styles Moriyama, etc, are not what one should do!
It's offensive and arrogant and worst no chance of real framing...
The good part is instant focusing! Great technology.
I wait for things to happen, using foreground and backgrounds.
I found a whole heap of Fuji color film, 35mm,120,220..
but cost of processing keeps me at digital..

Okay it's better looking than the leaked photos suggested. Might be the best looking x100 yet.

Yeah, it's not bad. I still like the original's classic sculpted design best but this is a pretty good looking camera. The black one especially.

Me, too, Arch.
But at the same time I must admit we RFFs frequently do the same thing.
A member posts a few excellent pics taken with his new lens or new camera. Often the replies are along the lines of "Excellent photos. I really need to get one of those _______ " whatevers.

You'd think we'd know better.

I actually got my hands on the X100V earlier today at the Fujifilm showroom/gallery here in Tokyo.

I'd say the grip is a bit bigger and feels nicer to me over the X100F, but I wouldn't say it's massively different.

It's probably one of those things you'll need to handle for yourself to decide if it's good enough or not. But I didn't think it was that different.

it is not my style of photography either but it can create interesting images.

there's no one correct way of doing photography just like there's no single way of painting with a brush.

improved lens (especially close-up), improved AF, minimalistic body design.. I can see myself using this along with the wide-angle converter as my only digital travel camera.

Basically a point and shoot..
And then there is..when dust gets on the sensor..you have to send it in for a cla..and that aint cheep..

I have couple of P&S in use for sometime and no dust. Panasonic, Canon made. They are always in dedicated case if not in use.

Do not trash your camera a.k.a. tossing in the pocket.
Cover microphone holes with tape and never remove protective filter.
This should keep sensor clear on weather-sealed camera for sometime.

X100V is availible for pre-order at BH. Expected availability: Thu Feb 27 Silver, Tue Mar 31 Black.
I will wait for Canon R6 announcement and price to compare.

$1399 in the US, and weather resistant with the $100 filter /adapter. Looks like a decent update.

The lens definitely is much better than the previous one - from comparison results that I have seen .
I guess this means that Fuji will introduce a new v2 23mm for their XT/XE/Xpro cameras.

Does anyone here intend to buy one, sooner or later? We've got a lot of 'I'm not sure about this' and 'yeah, that looks really nice', but does anyone want to get one? I sure do, although after the price comes down and any bugs sorted out.

I want one because of the new lens, but I'm waiting to see if the Panasonic GX10 is set up properly for vlogging. It's rumored to have a mic jack, and if it has a fully-articulated LCD screen, I'll get that instead.

Since Richard Butler says that the X100V's autofocus doesn't end up making much practical difference over the X100F, I'm a little wary of buying one since it probably won't be the digital street camera I've been waiting for (film being covered by a Leica MP, and not being able to afford/justify an M10 anytime soon). It might only serve as a vacation/casual photography camera. Seeing as how I can set up a Micro 4/3 camera with a wide angle shift lens better than Fuji X (with a 12mm f/2.8 Laowa and a Kipon or Fotodiox adapter), I have a second reason to wait for the GX9 replacement.

If the X100V had a Leica Q-esque manual focusing tab (to make AF performance irrelevant) and IBIS, it would have been a no-brainer.

Considering that the GX9 doesn't have a flip out screen, the GX10 isn't likely to have one, either. I have the GX85 but there's no way I'd use it as a vlogging camera (not that I vlog) because it lacks a flip out screen. OMG, I sound like Camera Conspiracies. 😛
