I owned one while I was shooting X100s/X-Pro1 and found it to be a great performer, even wide open.
AF is slow, so no sports but for everything else it just works.
If I decide to get another X camera, I would definitely grab another oen.
regarding shots taken with it, here are some

X-Pro 1 + XF 55-200 by earl.dieta, on Flickr
this was at ISO3200 and 1/110s, place was hot and humid and not a lot of light.

oops my bad, thought it was a type of the 55-200.
curious to see some pics and review of it then.
for half the price, an XE-1 + 50-230 would be an inexpensive tele combo

edit: found this mini-review

from what I gather both 50-230 and 55-200 are both excellent performers.
the 50-230 doesn't have aperture ring and OIS switch on the body though

i was hoping for some feedback from someone here, someone i knew a bit.
i have seen that flickr page and others also…the lens seems very sharp, similar to the 16-50 xc lens that i have.
still undecided…might go take a look at the local camera store.

I just picked mine up today. Was going to buy the 55-200 but this one was smaller, lighter, and cheaper. For my uses, I won't need the extra stop. Image quality, size, and price are my major concerns. Going on vacation in two weeks. Will be at the grand canyon (first time) and will try it then.
It's not fun taking pictures of snow at -40.

Wow, I really like the lens. As an enthusiast, and not a pro, I really like changing the aperture on the thumbwheel. I think I may well go with the xc 16-50 to keep both my zooms the same. May have to sell the 18-55.

Finally at home...
It's a great lens. Much lighter than the 55-200, and a lot cheaper. Also slower but equally good. My choice!
