Fuji's new GF670W Rangefinder: Priceless?

I have a Mamiya 7, but if I wanted to go this wide, then the lens is very expensive and requires the use of an accessory finder. The GF670W looks a lot more compact, and has optional 6x6 shooting. At the right the price, I'd consider trading in.

In light of the fact that the rest of the world is moving away from the 4x5/6x7 proportions and toward 2:3 (if not 16:9), isn't it a little regressive to release this camera? I've often felt that the squarish 6x7 proportion can be unsatisfying for landscapes shot in "landscape" mode.

Couldn't agree more. A modern 6x9 with a 50mm lens would be much more attractive than a 6x7 and would not fear competition from the Mamiya 7 II.

Cheers!

I like to know that to. I think and guess it will be more expensive that last one; perhaps over $2000. However, if the price is lower than that, around 1500 dallers, than this camara would be a good companion with the Mamiya 7 because those wide angle lenses are expensive and not always available.

Would also be interesting to see if the price of the Bessa III will come down a bit...not holding my hope up too high for new ones, but perhaps decent used ones?

I've always preferred the 6x9, I can always crop it down, even using half of the negative you are still MF with 6x4.5. The only real problem was that some printers could not print anything wider than 6x7, but that should not be a problem today if they are scanning color negs. for printing?

APX 400, Rodinal, and 6x9-- great combination for tonality, composition, and the Fuji cameras were very easy to carry.

Appreciate Fuji products, they make it more interesting.

The price for the new ones will almost certainly not come down. Why should it? The wide version is not a replacement or update but an addition to the line up. As a compraison, the price of 50mm lenses usually don't go down when new 35mm lenses are introduced.

The price of used ones on the other hand might come a bit down if enough owners of the Bessa III decide they'd rather have a IIIW. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.
