Again regarding resolution...
I performed tests of the Mamiya 7ii with 65mm against both a 5D with L lenses ( and Contax Zeiss lenses) and an M8. I scanned on a Nikon and there was no comparison - the digitals were far behind the 6x7. But you can get by with smaller prints, f you don't compare side by side.
Our results are comparable then. Nice to know I'm not alone!

Go with Phase One P65+ or the new coming Hassy H4D-60, FULL FRAME digital medium format, i want to see how those perform against film medium format.

The best camera is one that still works!
I'd have to go with the D700 ... but for none of the reasons really described in this thread. I'm not much of digital person but this camera can do it all IMO ... it's low light capabilities are extrordinary and being able to use nearly every type of Nikon F mount lens ever made is a big plus.
I put a DX crop lens on it recently and was amazed that the camera automatically cropped the viewfinder image to match the reduced image circle.

Full frame is entirely worth it, it's better in every way than aps-c. Go 5d and 35L and you have one of the best digital 35mm combos out there regardless of price.
That 35mm f2 is a good lens too - just that combined with a 5d would work well too.
