From the Fuji Global site regarding Photokina, Fuji has stated that "visitors will be able to experience the outstandingly high image quality with a full size sensor". My imagination is going wild right now, but we can assume there may be a special new X Pro model full frame coming. If so, I will start saving $$$$ for it. I have the A7r, but honestly, I keep reaching for the X Pro-1 due to its layout, optical viewfinder, and functionality. IF I could have that full frame, that would be amazing, and Fuji is telling us something with this announcement.

Interesting times ahead, I love my X Pro 1, if I won the pools I would be tempted with a full frame version

"Full size sensor" to me, would be 8" x 10" ...But seriously, it will be an "X" camera, but it will not take XF/XC lenses. My bet is fixed-lens, 24x36 or larger sensor. Like a digital GS645. More like a Sony RX1 - but with a great EVF (maybe hybrid OVF!) and better manual controls. A super high-quality 35 or 40mm 1.4 lens. A little bigger than the Sony, but that will be a good thing. Fixed lens could be X-pro size....

Good news, they can´t hold down to the apsc with their cameras...they must move forward!

Hope sigma will go for FF!

A full suze sensor? Come on guys. It's a full size APS-c sensor :p

Fuji has a full size apsc.
Olympus will display a full size m43
sensor.

Sony has a full size fx ... etc
Words ... nothing else :D

Maybe it's something else but I doubt it!

I may be wrong but my understanding was that Fuji was not going to do a FF 35mm camera and that the X-Pro2 would be an APS-C as it is now, but with 24 mps. If Fuji did a larger sensor it would be a large format censored camera - larger than FF. What I read was a full size sensor for XF lenses so that would be only APS-C sized sensor.

As Andy and macJim both stated, I doubt we are going to c a ff (35mm type sensor) from Fuji...

But there was a rumor a while back about Fuji working on the Sony 50mp medium format sensor and it was associated w/ a digital version of their gf670 --> although this would most likely be a 645 size at best.

To me the difference between apsc and ff 35 is small enough not to really worry about it (in the perspective of dof and dynamic range from Fuji perspective). The difference between the size of af lenses between apsc and ff, I will take the apsc lenses any day. Look how big the Sony 55f1.8 fe or the 70-200 fe is compared to the equivalent in Fuji. Using legacy lenses on the Fuji though has turned out to not be my preferred option. Right now Fuji is mainly a af lens world to me. I use my a7 almost exclusively as my preferred universal digital back for legacy lenses.

The difference between apsc and ff medium format though is a different story. But the cost in the past has been extremely high. Fuji has a history in af and rf fixed focal length and fixed zoom medium format film cameras that were extremely attractive feature vs price. They maybe thinking of doing what Pentax has done w/ their digital lineup (apsc and mf).

But at end of the day, I doubt either rumor is true. But if either come to pass, I will be very happy to c it. Of all the digital camera companies out there, I prefer the Fuji UI the best.

They're going to present a full size G690. Now that would be news and get me saving. But if they would only go to a digital GA645Zi I'm already happy.

frankly, if they want to survive, they better have an FF shortly.

I don't think so Charlie.
It's the full system that puts Fuji in front.
Look at the lens line up. Are you kidding me?
I use it. It's wonderful for working projects.

Guess what though... I would love a fixed lens leaf shutter 35-50mm ish camera from fuji with better DOF subject isolation ability than the x100 has.
If that requires FF ok... Without full frame fuji is still far from Sunk with the XF line.

Few are like me preferring fixed lens leaf shutter cameras.
I'm just happy Fuji, Sony, Ricoh... they offer a few :)
Now Where is that perfect one ??? :p

Not all will agree w/ his point of view about FF, but it is a funny video. Growing up in the 60s, I can certainly relate to his examples since I heard the arguments about 35mm vs mf vs lf while growing up. It continues even in the world of digital. What else is new?

Fuji is out there to make money. The good thing is Fuji digital imaging is actually a small part of Fuji profit equation. If I remember correct, Fuji as a whole, made a very good profit last year.

At end of the day it is about choice. What someone else prefers is not what others do...

At what point should we stop upgrading our gear?

Never :)

But it's very personal.
A move from an M240/ Summilux FLE combo to an Olympus Om 5m f1.8 could be an upgrade for some person.
Again... it's very personal.
IMO there are no true 100% upgrades only sideways movement with occasional improvements :p

To me, it just sounds like bad marketing speak or possibly a translation issue and not a real indication of a forthcoming full-frame sensor from Fuji.

If they release full frame cameras in the future, I believe that the first one will be a fixed lens camera.

However, it seems to me the future is bigger sensors, smaller form factors, cheaper prices.

And fewer camera makers.
