If this were only just a point-n-shoot camera, you might be more forgiving. But this is in the end quite a lot of money spent on something you want to be as good as it gets. And now it looks like it does have a major imaging problem really.

Doesn't look like the white blob issue to me - these don't appear to be perfectly round or white, you have a very powerful monolight hitting a shiny surface from a few feet away.

The "white orbs" in the first shot are nothing more than blown specular highlights from the studio strobe. They are not going to show any structure like the point light source of a streetlight as shown on dpreview.

How do people who don't know how to "test" a camera get there hands on a pre-production unit? I'd like one...if that's the case. I can go out and miss focus and stuff too. 😉

I don't disagree that, if the xp1 had the issue the x10 does, it would be a disappointment. I'm just not convinced that it does. If I'm forgiving, it's of the singular example you've suggested has white orbs. They look like pretty standard issue blown reflections seen in many photos taken on many diff brands of cameras, usually more indicative of the lens (coatings) than anything. But I certainly don't claim that the xp1 will absolutely not suffer from the blobs. I just haven't seen them yet.

Really lousy focusing on most of the sample images. It's hard to tell how the lenses actually perform.

Yeah, fujifilm obviously had a press day and invited different people to try the camera. These are definitely taken by someone else. All are in focus and have jpeg sharpening on - the way it should be.

The guy who shot the set posted to the Fuji X Forum is an X100 user and understands how to use the Fuji X style camera.

I see in the forum photos by "flysurfer" he indicates that he has had an xp1 for some time now and did not have to share. Have there been other preview sets posted by him?
The lenstip photos are credited to Wojciech Wojtczak. I don't know if they are one in the same or not.

I posted a link to the polish fujifilm site with even more samples from the same day. It was a press day and there would have been a handful of people there taking shots.
