Okay, it's just an idea, and I'm having that odd idle moment after a ton of freelance work and configuring a new (to me) Mac. Think of a favorite (or, better still, a least-favorite song), and have at it with some creative, photography-related rewrite.

When no one was looking, I'd get out of Mr. Serious mode and tweak a certain top-40 song (lordy, is that term archaic now), and retool it. Part of the impetus behind all this was having Jim Croce's Operator running through my head, for no reason at all, while I was slamming through traffic between jobs. It seems like Croce was never a "cool" singer-songwriter to be into, but I always found him appealing somehow. (Hell, even Neil Diamond's hip at the moment.).

The target song I'm kicking this off with, however, has nothng to do with Croce. It has everything to do with the Ramones, however, and I dedicate this to the PJs in the RFf crowd (with tongue planted firmly in cheek, guys...don't form a posse looking for me). I have no idea for a prize, but if I come up with one, it'll be tiny. (What am I saying...? Who's judging this silly thing?)

Song: "Bitstream Bop", based on...aw, c'mon, you know.

A chemist's in a bread line
A PJ's on a deadline
His paper says it's high time
For the Bitstream Bop

His CF cards are not free
He's dyin' for a D3
Can't see the forest for trees
In the Bitstream Bop

Hey, ho, let's go
He'll shoot a thousand frames now
What they'll print, he won't know
Till it's wrapping fish, he'll go with the flow

The quality's an outrage
But perfect for the front page
If he gets a shot in edge-ways
Through the Bitstream Bop

He knows that film is mad-fine
But nowadays there's no time
He's fighting for a by-line
In the Bitstream Bop

Hey, ho, let's go
He's walking with a limp now
With all that weight, a disc he'll throw
He's chimping at the bit, his embarrassment shows

He's on his Photoshop beat
At 40,000-odd feet
From the comfort of a Coach seat
It's the Bitstream Bop

They haven't raised his day-rate
Since '97 or 8
He starts to feel the true weight
Of the Bitstream Bop
