Fun reading for film diehards

While I was searching the Carl Zeiss website for info about the new 50/1.5 Sonnar, I got sidetracked to these links to the Arriflex cine camera website.

One fun thing I found there was this page about their Super 16-format camera, directed at digital video users.

You'll enjoy the way they've written up the advantages of their camera and of film-based cinematography in general from a digital perspective.

Wow I wouldn't expect this level of sarcasm form Arri. This is just not classy at all.

They also forgot to mention the development cost and the turn around time for dallies.

Film is just better for cinema as well. I worked on a film last summer, and they were talking about why they opted to get the Panavision instead of some HighDef setup, and the reason was that it looks so much more natural. Framerate is one of the biggest reasons. And of course film has a more pleasing look - less harsh - less super real.
