Fun with the Hasselblad 907x

Lovely photos, Vince!

I'm a bit behind in posting new work ... Waiting for my 907x SE to get back home from HasselbladUSA, I've been mostly shooting Polaroids and waiting for the 907x to return so I can scan them with it.

Never mind that I've been busy working on another obsession lately.

^ Vince, with this one (post #350) you’ve easily climbed above the impressive level and have entered inspirational territory. I rarely see nature shots in black and white that work for me but this one nails it. Well done!

All the best,
Mike

Wow Mike what a nice thing to say - many thanks! Blackwater Wildlife Refuge on Maryland’s Eastern Shore never ceases to inspire me in one way or another, there’s always something interesting to see there. I haven’t really thought about creating a ‘body of work’ based upon it, but maybe I should.

Many thanks again!

What a difference 96 years makes :)

Just for fun, I put the Ermanox next to the 907x for a size comparison, since they're pretty close to being the same general shape. The Ermanox takes 4.5x6cm glass plates and has a 100mm f/2 lens (revolutionary for its time) and weighs a hefty 3 lbs 6 oz. The Hasselblad with its 45P lens is physically larger yet weighs 2 lbs 11 oz. Interestingly both cameras have a rear screen!

Maybe next I should do a side-by-side image comparison -- gotta get the Ermanox fixed first :)

Some lovely photos, Vince!
The Ermanox is very cool! I'd love to see some photos out of it.

I'm on a brief trip to Tijuana this week with my partner (he owns a home here) and a couple of our friends. I carried only the iPhone 11 Pro and the Perkeo II: brought two rolls of film for the Perkeo and have so far made 9 exposures with it. 15 to go! It's a nice, light travel kit!

The 907x should be shipping back to me later this week, I'll meet it at home next week. Then I can scan all the Polaroids I've been shooting... LOL!

Will probably be a number of months before the Ermanox is fixed -- it needs new shutter curtains and a complete overhaul.

I actually have my eye on another one - uh oh :)

Ah, edging to the ' buy zone' again, eh? :)

I also expect the A16 back from David O soon, so I should be able to go shooting with the 500CM on film and digital with same format proportions. :D

Oh I've been in the 'buy zone' for a while now :)

Going down the Ermanox hole is definitely a financial commitment in many ways - first the camera, then the repair (as they all pretty much need) and then the custom-cut glass plates. Finding a 127 roll film back is the proverbial needle in the haystack.
