Just a simple question. Where is the lens release on the Futura S?

Bob

Just a bump. There must be somebody on here that knows. It is starting to shake my faith that RFF is a repository of knowledge for all things RF related.

John,

Thanks for the links, very interesting camera with lots of different glass.

Bob,

Thanks for the question, never heard of her. Wonder what caused the company to go south? The camera looks very good for it's time.

John, Bob,

Is the Prontor or Compur shutter mounted behind the lens like the later Agfa Ambi Sillette or in the lens like many Hasselblads? Thanks for the interesting links.

Cheers,

Thanks to all that have replied. John thanks for the links but I have those. I was hoping to find an owner who could shed some light on this camera. My friend has the camera and we are both curious about it. No real owners manual on the web either it seems. Yes the shutter is behind the lens. We have gotten the lens to unscrew but there was a lens that was recently for sale that had an M mount and was supposedly for the Futura. The mount on the lens for sale did not appear to be an LTM to M adapter. Oh well. we'll just have to play with it some more, gently of course.

I think they are fairly uncommon and some source says about 3500 or so were made. I have no idea why the company failed other than it was a very tough time in post war Germany for any company to survive. In the flesh the camera feels and looks well put together. Fit and finish are first rate in my books. As luck would have it, the camera has a 50/1.5 and I am dying to see the results. I wonder if it is a Sonnar design?

I read somewhere that the f1.5 has an excellent reputation, the AP tested the camera in the 50's, Ivor Matanle who writes articles in the Amateur Photographer may help, you could e-mail him via the magazine.

Thanks for the additional info and links. I'll pass that on to my friend.
