I have a Zorki "C" camera with the Industar 50mm F3.5 lens. It is very sharp and has nice contrast. Wanting a bit more speed I purchased a very clean (no haze or fungus) Jupiter 3 50mm F1.5 lens. Beyond twenty or thirty feet it doesn't focus very well. All the pictures are out of focus. I understand this may be a common problem with the Jupiters. Is there a solution?

Thanks,

Tom

the lens needs some collimation via shimming.
Brian or Kim are old hands at this.

Chances are the shim needs to be reduced. The optics are too far from the film, so it can't reach infinity. About 0.1mm~0.2mm will probably work. You can't look at the film gate with the Zorki C.

Also when the lens is mounted the F1.5 mark is not centered. It is perhaps a millimeter of two to the right (looking from behind the camera) of vertical. Could that be the problem? Thanks for the replies. Where can I get the reshimming and collimation done?

Tom
