That's good to know stuff...
The only time I had to buy a surface first mirror was to replace the one on a grain focuser...BTW...how does one cut these to fit?

I've used the mirrors salvaged from $0.25 garage sale Polaroids. Just cut them with a new glass cutter from the hardware store!
