As per the Theme article: FYI: Not too much to disclose yet, but expect two major Fujifilm announcements for Photokina 2012. Models in question? It’s highly likely that two new X series models will be launched.
Expect some X goodies from Fujifilm for Photokina.
It’s not that difficult to guess which one(s). My money’s first on the X100. Stocks run low and we had the special edition (black) that usually presages the dawn of a successor.
The other one? Maybe a new X model. X1?
A well-placed source tells THEME compactness of a body and autofocus speed compare to the Olympus OM-D E-M5, smilingly assuring the new Fujifilm’s AF “blows away” the Olympus.

But as always one looks forward to see what else Fuji is going to pull because they seem to be the only company who understands that today "novelty" is a more important selling point in photography than reliability, performance and even basic stuff like RAW file support.

You make like the X-Pro1 is the biggest piece of sh*t ever made. Reliability? What reliability issues? Performance? Are we talking about AF only here? RAW file support? Lightroom and PS support it and those are most likely the ones that are most in use.

Olympus did the same thing anyway, a few times. EP2 came shortly after EP1 for example.

Fuji has always said it was going to release a pro version of te xp1... I have had the xp1 since it was first released, I don't have a problem even with a direct replacement.

Look, at Sony for example, they are doing body upgrades like it is going out of style for their Nex series, not just one body but by the end of this year three. On the other hand, their lenses announcements are as slow as molasses.

Fuji as been pretty even handed, even going as far as showing their future lens roadmap up to 2013.

Given what as been happening with product update cycles lately, in my mind it is not too surprising...

This rumor as been around for at least 3-4 weeks now.. first indication was July 16.

Some people are never satisfied. They'll complain if something isn't released and they'll complain if something *is* released...

As long as they continue to do firmware updates to previous models and improve QC on new models and show that they learned from issues like the X10 had....

I recall that when the X-Pro1 was introduced it was mentioned that Fuji would (later) introduce 'lower' models to accompany the X-Pro1. So I would not expect a 'replacement' of the X-Pro1.

The best way not to be irritated when Fuji (or any company) releases a new camera is not ever buy one so that a newer camera cannot come too soon.

Looking back at some of the early announcements u guys are right, just bad memory on my part. But still, given the way product cycles work lately, this would not be a surprise..

Who cares? A newer camera doesn't mean the XP1 is ****, it just means there is a newer one. If you don't like the XP1 or it doesn't suit your needs, trade up. If it's fine for you now, a newer model isn't going to make your XP1 less good than it is now.

If you're happy w your gear, stop paying attention to product cycles.
