FYI: Unofficial RFF Community Blog

Lynn,
Yes, hotlinks will use up your bandwidth, as the image is pulled from your site.

Perhaps you'd be willing to disable hotlinking, see if it fixes the issue on the blog, then feel free to turn it on? I'd like to know if that's the problem.

Also, if you're using cPanel with your hosting company, you should be able to add my domain for hotlinking. I think photos.kaiyen.com should be sufficient, but perhaps also www.kaiyen.com

Hi Gabriel! 🙂

I was advised to disable mine; do hot-links not have something to do with (ab)using my bandwidth?
Or did I misunderstand? As usual? Tsk.
Yes, that would be the reason why you would want to disable it. But if you want your thumbnails to show, then you'd have to enable this; you see, feeds don't cache content itself, only the actual XML feed, but not any image content, so the burden is on the source. Can't see something if you block it outside your own site.

I use WordPress too, but have never looked into whether you can tell it to allow specific sites to hot link or not. I can do this but at the web server level, because I own my own web server (I configure it all myself). For my photoblog I turned the rules off, so I could post here, and so that the RSS feeds could display properly.

If you're charged by monthly bandwidth, then maybe you won't want to do this. I don't get charged by bandwidth...I am my own host!! 😀
