I'm noticing some odd behavior with my G1 and 90mm lens. The only lens I have now. Sometimes the frame will decrease in size at the same distance when other times the frame stays larger. Does anyone know what I'm referring to? Is this normal? I never noticed the frame decreasing and increasing in size--at the same distance. The viewfinder shows the focus locked and shutter speed fine.

That is, the parallax correcting frame appears to be stuck? Well, two reasons: 1. The lens does not focus where you assume. This is a widespread issue of the 90mm on the G1, for whatever reason. Or, of course, the parallax frame (or focus motor) might indeed be stuck.

With the camera is continuous autofocus the lens will follow whatever I focus the camera on. Far to near.

Most of the time the framing seems fine but occasionally the frame from the upper left side will move so far in that it looks like the images is being cropped. This can happen at any distance focused on.

Is this the camera or the lens?

I think there might still be some warranty left--I bought it from Cameta and they gave me a 6 month warranty.

What servo said is the normal behavior but your additional info..sounds like a malfunction to me if it is happening randomly at any distance.

But the half press of the shutter release normally finalizes the position of the framing window. If it is not at the correct location after half press, definitely a malfunction.

There were no parts available to fix the G1. Cameta refunded me my money since I had 6 month warranty ( included in the price ).
