G1 Continuous Auto Focus--Good?

How well does the G1 track and maintain continuous autofocus? Not talking about multiple framerate, but just locking onto a moving subject and staying locked until shot has been taken.

I'm hoping i can substitute my F100 kit with my G1 kit, and travel light and small. Occasionally, I do need continuous AF.

I have never owned a G1, but I have seen in passing much consternation regarding it's autofocus. I think if you search you'll find a lot to read. I do have an F100, and as you know it's very good. I doubt the G1 is even close.

I don't own a G1, but a G2 and I can't say it's CAF is amazing (and it's reputed to be much better than the G1) - it's decent for what it is but I think that if you are going to decide on a camera based on this feature, I'd look elsewhere.

+1/concur with nonot as a G1 and G2 owner. Great camera(s) in many ways and the "glass" is arguably second to none. But CAF is just OK. So, if CAF is very important too you look elsewhere.
