G1 Raw Converters?

I ask here because of a better signal/noise ratio compared to other places I visit.

I am converting to Mac use and have to leave my CS3 behind. In any case Adobe forces people to get CS4 to update ACR. I tried the for Mac PS Elements 6 trial, but could not find any CA adjustments in there. Anyway I am not going to PS till Adobe and Apple get together on 64 bit aps.

What are the pros/cons to Mac available converters? Because of integral lens corrections, it gets complicated. Thanks for your input.

The RAW converter in CS4 is fantastic. I find no need for anything else. I'm sure you'll get varied opinions here....

I know it doesn't answer your question about 64 bit, but yes, CS4 (ACR) is fantastic. It also is a step up generally from CS3 so an upgrade has other benefits beside a new ACR with new features.

I just tried SilkyPix 4 RC (windows only now) and I think I could learn to love it with some time on the learning curve. The output TIFF goes into Aperture with no problems. I have the complete NIK collection for Aperture so I am married to that software. I was afraid I wasn't going to find a way to get a lens corrected file into Aperture, this looks like the answer if and when SilkyPix issues Ver 4 for Apple. The RC demo is only good till September 1, so I hope it comes out soon. Someone needs to write a good manual in english also. Thanks for the input.

Raw Developer is definitely worth a look. Does a great job on tonality, noise and sharpness, but no lens distortion or CA.

Adobe has their LR 3.0 beta trials. If they are still going on, you may want to give that a try. They set it up as a free open beta trial. It has a Mac version of the SW.. I believe it is a full working copy.

I'm still using Rawshooter Essentials, with my Pentax *ist DL RAW files, and I am afraid it won't recognize my G1 RAW files. (camera is on the way so I guess I'll find out, but I'm not hopeful). anybody still using this great old dinosaur? (Rawshooter)

That is the problem with many RAW converters, they won't develop particular RAW files. Adobe updates their RAW converters for Photoshop periodically. That is a big plus.

I'm using it now on a mac. Works as LR2 did. I don't use a g1 but did convert some LX3 raws and all is well. Pretty seamless.
