Returning home last night, I took several packages out of the car, and put my Lumix G1 with its 20/1.7 lens on the roof. Of course, then I forgot it there, and didn't remember it until ai saw it this morning on my way out.
Well, I panicked on seeing it as it had been inthe low 30s all night (even here in florida), and found the focus ring a bit stiff, BUT the camera turned on withiout a problem. Once warmed up to room temperature, everything works perfectly, and no fogging of the LCD or VF.
Happily, not quite a Leica, but still quite tough, I think.

I think, it's ability to work in around zero celsius should be addressed first to it's well-engineered mechanics and good battery capacity, not reliability, and even then I think it should be checked in -15F conditions at least

Doesn't all translate that into reliability under those conditions ?

Where I live, I'm not sure I'd still have a camera left to check the reliability!

My Ricoh 35G and Yashica were working quite happily today at -6 (21f) so I've yet to be impressed
Try that with an M8... the battery will be drained within 15 minutes or it will do some other "tricks!"

Where I live -27C (-16F) is quite normal, this is why I own a mechanical camera to be able to shoot outside under any conditionsTry that with an M8... the battery will be drained within 15 minutes or it will do some other "tricks!"
