How difficult would it be for someone like a CV to develop a negative diopter converter as part of a LTM or M adapter that would restore the WA the sensor eliminates. A teleconverter in reverse. It would be "standardized" for certain focal lengths i.e. a 15-21mm or a 24-35mm and only 1 camera thus not trying t accomplish too much? I understand it would put more glass in the path - but at what price?

There is a G1 user on another forum that is using a 0.7x wide angle converter on the front of the G1 kit lens. This is probably not bad for the 14mm end of the kit lens, resulting in 20mm effective focal length.

not difficult at all --
-- unless you expect a certain quality.

there are quite a number of WA converters available on the market, ranging from bottle bottom quality to more or less acceptable (*).

(*) = depending on your expectations.

i was used to a mid range quality converter myself, but due to the amount of CA and distortion i have to finally rate as inacceptable for regular use.

beside it adding up to the volume/weight considerably.

so, count me in the crowd saying "converters are no good. do yourself a favour and drop the idea. don't waste money and time."

of course, your decision is yours. this is just my own experience.

cheers

The 14-45 was not intended for conversion lenses. These will degrade image quality, overall sharpness, introduce lots of chromatic abberations, especially at the edges of the frame. Again, your choice.....
