G1 with HD

from what i have read, the hd video guts that are in it make it cheap for the price. plus the lens alone will sell for 900 bucks, that makes the body $600.

In this economy I sure hope not and panasonic will be so so so so so far off mark of their intended audience for this camera system.

That lens is the only thing that really would make a G1 purchase feasable for me. I like to shoot wide. If it's that expensive, I won't be able to do it...

I am hoping the Samsung version of the concept will be good...APS-C I can stand.

i'm waiting for the 20/1.7, that will make the camera perfect for my early morning market shoots and dull days on the street.
while i would love the 7-14, i think i would get another rd1 before that lens.

Maybe, but I'm not into video, only still photography, so this new toy has no new value added...

So typical. You don't need it so it's unnecessary? And of course if it does not have a red dot it is not a camera, it is a toy.

Rest assured that my hard earned money goes to one of these babies when they become available and that M and F adapters will follow.

I'm just excited that it has an "oversized" sensor, like the LX-3 did. When you change aspect ratios, it doesn't just crop from one of the other aspect ratios; it actually changes both dimensions and uses all of the image circle. I think that makes it the first interchangable lens digital camera that shoots 1:1 and 16:9 natively. I'd love to see that thrown into a stripped-down, stills-only, smaller body without a "prism" hump.

Yeah, I like the inclusion of HD video (how cool to shoot video with M-mount lenses!), but the larger sensor and the aspect ratios is what catches my eye and excites me about this camera, too. That is a very nice improvement. I shoot with an LX3 as well as a G1. It's great that Panisonic is rolling all this good stuff together and pushing the µ4/3 forward. This is all looking very promising.

The other cool thing is being able to use cine lenses for HD -- very fast, no click stops to mess up the sound. Buy your lenses now, vintage cine lenses are going to get pricey...
